Well organized so easy to remember and implement

I enjoyed the whole book but was particularly fond of the summaries at the end of each chapter. Simplifying the process into four habits provides a framework for reflection and review. I just need to listen to the chapter summaries to refresh my memory about what I need to think about when I get bored or “fall off the wagon”.

Historia
Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju, are best friends who come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective, led by Young-sook’s mother. As the girls take up their positions as baby divers, they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger. This beautiful, thoughtful novel illuminates a world turned upside down, one where the women are in charge, engaging in dangerous, physical work, and the men take care of the children.

Disturbing Historical Fiction

The book kept me captivated. However, it is not easy to listen to the tales depicting the cruelty of men. There were times I needed a break to self-soothe.

For years I have enjoyed Pu-erh tea. This book of historical fiction puts my favourite tea in a context I had not previously known.
I listened to it in a day because it was so well written. I appreciated the change of narrators.

This book will change your life.
Revisado: 07-04-22
As an adolescent in the late 1960’s, I questioned the teachings of the Hell-and-brimstone fundamental Baptist Church In which I was raised. In the mid-1970’s I heard Raymond Moody speak on NDE but dismissed it as likely a spiritual-psychological delusion. I went to university and studied various religions and eventually became a psychologist comfortable that death is the end. This science-based look at NDE has shaken me. What stands out for me is Greyson’s hypothesis that mind and brain are not the same thing. He postulates with examples of out-of-body experiences that the brain may house the mind but the mind can live outside the body. His arguments are very convincing.

The Future in History
Revisado: 06-30-22
This is a remarkable book that explores the behaviour of people in generations past recreating their double in the present world and the foreseeable future. It is no wonder that Atwood has become so well-regarded. Her ability to layer plots and characters created an incredible mosaic that captures the readers attention and is highly thought provoking. A great book!
