Nostalgia, cheese, and about what you’d expect
Revisado: 02-01-24
It’s not Buffy. So don’t go in thinking that. But it is enjoyable. The plot meanders and the story is probably too long, but I enjoyed hearing those voices again after so long. Worth a listen, just don’t be frustrated that it’s DIFFERENT.

Historia
Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. And what’s worse, the dark wizard Tybus swooped in, took over the realm, and forced all supernatural creatures to live under his tyrannical rule.

It’s fine
Revisado: 11-05-23
It’ll do a great job amusing you while you’re doing other things. It doesn’t require deep attention and you’re not likely to be wowed. But the actors are good, and Neil Gaiman is always a joy to hear.

Luke Daniels makes it worth your time
Revisado: 09-11-23
The story is…amusing. I can’t deny that it’s a creative take on first contact and it’s not the genre you’ve likely read (listened to) when told with the irreverence and silliness only Scott Meyer can add to a story. I think I would have put the book down, but listening to Daniels made it worth it. His voices and humorous personalities add charm. Give it a listen. You probably wont cherish it always, but the book will certainly feel good in the now.

When you think about how easy it is to lose keys, phones, sunglasses and your dignity on social media, you might figure it'd be a cinch for me to ditch my V Card. You'd be wrong. At 25, I run a successful business, live in a fantastic apartment, and have fabulous friends to go out with any night of the week. And yet I'm still a card-carrying member of a club I don't want to belong to anymore. Good thing I know just the man for the deflowering job - my brother’s business partner and best friend.

Uninspired and predictable
Revisado: 04-07-23
Uninspired and predictable, with little to no real humor. The female narrator brings some talent and light to the story, the male sounds patronizing and gruff. Overall, the story isn’t really romantic or comedic, and you’ll guess the entire plot within minutes. Nothing “hot” about the storyline.

Nope
Revisado: 12-21-22
I gave it over an hour. It went no where and I’m disappointed I blew a credit on this book. I suppose if you’re very into tech and Silicon Valley you might eventually find something enjoyable. I understand winding up and building characters and plot…this isn’t that. It’s drivel. And not 22 hours well spent.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

What a great ride!
Revisado: 12-21-22
The first 3 or 4 hours were tedious. Perhaps they were buildup, perhaps they felt redundant and long-winded to just me. Whatever the case, it picks up—and fast! The story is unique and fun, and being a military member myself made it all the more entertaining to listen to. Join “Colonel Joe” on a ride to save humanity, with every snide remark and shenanigan along the way.

Weird, but fun
Revisado: 11-13-22
If you liked Heads Will Roll you’ll probably like this one. Entertaining, quirky, and out of left field, but well executed and lighthearted. It touches on some interesting aspects of the self-care culture, and pokes fun along the way. Good time killer, worth a listen. And a few chuckles to be had.

Revisado: 09-10-22
Nothing overly new or thought-provoking, and still, this is a classic Ray Porter and Dennis E. Taylor pairing. The story is fun, the voices and personalities are fun, the antics are fun—it’s unlikely you’ll dislike this book because it’s, well, fun! Enjoy!

Historia
Rabbits is a mysterious alternate reality game so vast it uses the entire world as its canvas. Since the game started in 1959, 10 iterations have appeared and nine winners have been declared. The identities of these winners are unknown. So is their reward, which is whispered to be NSA or CIA recruitment, vast wealth, immortality, or perhaps even the key to the secrets of the universe itself. But the deeper you get, the more dangerous the game becomes. Players have died in the past - and the body count is rising. And now the 11th round is about to begin.

It’s NOT the podcast you’re used to
Revisado: 08-01-22
The completeness and flow of the podcast are not replicated in this story. It’s as if the book is made entirely of the maddening, go-nowhere side information that usually only contribute minutely to the podcast. It’s rare I don’t finish a book. I wanted to like this, as I like all of the Public Radio Alliance podcasts, but there is nothing the narrator can do to bring flow and sense to the story.

Revisado: 08-01-22
Story really doesn’t go anywhere, but the acting and antics are fun nonetheless. If you’re looking for a complete arc and final resolution, it’s not there. If you need to kill time while mowing the lawn or something, it’s a fine read.
