Predictable to the Last Word
Revisado: 03-27-23
I thought this book was boring and predictable. It was highly recommended by multiple different sites but I found there really was no point to the entire story.

Sweet love story! Got a little annoyed with Angel about half way to three quarters of the way through, but she redeemed herself (pun intended). Good book with a solid storyline and life lessons.

Historia
The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

No Scones Here
Revisado: 02-12-23
The women characters in this book sounded like Valley girls when they supposed to be middle-aged and living on the Oregon coast. The overall story was about deception, cheating, backstabbing, secrets, and domestic abuse. Not my cup of tea.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

This is a good story to get lost in. A few chuckles and equally sad parts. I thought about the characters when not listening to the book. Kept my interest.

At first the townspeople of Cherryvale welcome the rising medium Kate Bender and her family. Kate's messages from the Beyond give their tedious dreams hope and her mother's potions cure their little ills—for a price. No one knows about their other business, the shortcut to a better life. And why shouldn’t their family prosper? They’re careful. It’s only from those who are marked, those who travel alone and can easily disappear, that the Benders demand their pound of flesh.

I found myself unable to stop listening to this story. I didn’t give five stars simply because I enjoy life lesson stories I can connect with. Worth a listen! Very well written!!!

This is a great book to make you think about different perspectives. A little fantastical, a little romance, a little historical…just a great blend!
