Historia
Strap in for the opening salvo of the ARISEN: Operators epic—the biggest and most explosive ARISEN adventure yet and the untold story of the pipe-hitting operators of the Unified Special Operations Command during the first two years of the Zulu Alpha. To have any chance of reaching safety in Fortress Britain, Master Sergeant Yaël Sion must first escape the collapsing gravity well of Israel as it's devoured from within by merciless jihadi fighters, striking in the chaos of rampaging hordes of infected civilians, all in a global pandemic spiraling out of control.

Main Character a walking contradiction
Revisado: 09-11-24
The usual outstanding performance of R.C. Bray carries a story that wasn't as strong and defined as the original Arisen books. The main character claims ti have the never quit can do tier one operator attitude but spends the entire book giving up on everyone around her. She does a lot of cut and run for a soldier that supposedly never cuts and runs. Her weak support of her fellow soldiers is balanced out by her sheer determination to survive no matter the odds. An excellent book that I rank a tad below the other Arisen books

Historia
In a future so real and near it might be now, something happens when women go to sleep: They become shrouded in a cocoon-like gauze. If they are awakened, if the gauze wrapping their bodies is disturbed or violated, the women become feral and spectacularly violent; and while they sleep they go to another place.... The men of our world are abandoned, left to their increasingly primal devices. One woman, however, the mysterious Evie, is immune to the blessing or curse of the sleeping disease.

Performance by Marin Ireland
Revisado: 08-24-24
I really loved Marin Ireland's performance of various characters, this was not Stephen Kings best work by far. The idea behind the book is solid but the Kings disappointed me by making the book all about how everyman alive is a woman hating abusing rapist. The entire book is spent bashing men instead of elevating women by portraying them as strong and more than capable people. I realize that in this world women are devalued in every aspect of life I took personal affront to it because while I have never abused or devalued a woman I have been on the receiving end of physical and mental abuse at the hands of women from Grandmother, mother, Aunts, and Sisters

thumbs down
Revisado: 01-31-23
it had the makings of a good story but it was too reflective of current themes in the world where women are always in charge or hating any man in charge. the only acceptable males have to be gay or Trans and all heterosexual males are chauvinistic sexist. this story went out of its way to show that men are incompetent idiots and women are the intelligent backbones of society that hold everything together despite the presence of men.

Worst apocalypse story ever written
Revisado: 07-17-21
the writers style is bland and mechanical. The plot doesn't seem to be thought out. It stumbles through poor development and deathless vanilla characters. The narrator makes a bad story worse by trying to use different voices for each character. The male characters all sounded like Steve Martin and the women like petulant teen agers. There were no characters likable enough for readers to root for and after half of the first book I just wanted it to end. I suffered through the other two books but they got no better than the first. Waste of time and money.

the narrator has a dull monotonous voice that makes the story hard to listen to without faking asleep. The story itself starts off very slowly.

Disappointing story
Revisado: 08-13-19
I was disappointed with the characters in the story. Zeke behaves like a 10yr old and not a security agent. All of the Male characters take a backseat to the female lead which would be fine if they all were not so stupid. she is the only one who can solve problems
the female lead is supposedly a scientist but fails to realize that once she didn't die from the virus then antibodies could be synthesized from her blood, instead she runs around with an axe chopping one zombie at a time like her idiotic male counterparts. story could use a GOOD rewrite and better editing

Survive review
Revisado: 05-23-19
While not the best zombie apocalypse story I've read it is a very good series. I love stories written by women because to me women give their character so much more emotion, unlike the dry stiffer characters by Male counterparts. I found myself really liking or disliking every character. A lot of writers seemed to be limited by the apocalypse theme but Konstantin shows her range and skill as a writer with strong and believable characters and good plot development. The story did get a bit predictable at times and the zombie fight scenes were drab at times but this story is made by the great characters. I just wonder if all women share Courtney Konstantin's seemingly negative view of men and how men under value women in general. I can sympathize with women's view on this topic after the things I've personally witnessed and fought against often to my own detriment. Great, well written story.
