Critical Cover-Up by Margie Miklas is an enjoyable ‘medical’ mystery mixed with suspense. I loved the characters and felt emotionally tied to them. The plot and storyline are great and kept my interest until the end. Blair Seibert did a great job in the narration. I listened at 1.3 speed, which made the audio very enjoyable.

I see The Amazonian Abyss by B. E. Lockwood as one for a young audience. This story tells more than it shows, which some readers might enjoy. There is an adventure and some mystery, but it lacks an emotional connection with characters that could have made it compelling. I enjoyed Kristen Saburn's (narrator) straightforward voice for this book's genre. I suggest a listening speed of 1.35 for this audiobook.

This book is for young adults, so I listened with young adult ears. The Lost City of Atlantis by Dorothy Vincent needs more focus and development for this age group. I see this book more for middle grades or younger, like fifth or sixth grade. The journey could have been compelling, but it was hard to connect to the characters. The word choice was good, but an emotional connection would have made it more convincing.

The narrator, Kristen Saburn, was great. Her inflection was upbeat and mysterious at times, appropriate for this book's young listeners. I found 1.35 the perfect listening speed, which made it very enjoyable.

Attempted murder, an attack, and a poisoned cappuccino kept me going—the lost phone and fake messages had me wanting to know who was behind it all. This is the first thriller by this author that I’ve read (rather, listened to on audio), and I wanted to return to all its twists and turns. The narration was great. I suggest a listening speed of 1.25.

Italy at Eighteen is a step-by-step account of a grandmother and her granddaughter’s Italian experience. It's not just about the jokes shared with their tour guide, the visits to cafes, stores, pizzerias, or the many other adventures. It's a journey that weaves together the experiences of this family. By the end, you'll see how this ‘trip of a lifetime’ for twin girls exposes them to new cultures and languages and bridges their teenage years and their first steps into adulthood. If you listen to the audio, as I did, the narration speed is enjoyable at 1.3.

Lifeline, A Guide to Surviving the End Times is enlightening, to say the least. It was a bit worrisome to listen to, even as a believer, but an eye-opening listen all the same. I felt some of the chapters could have been expanded, but the author was clear and to the point. The narrator, David Schmiedeberg, did a fantastic job. Perfect voice for the subject area.

Lightning Rising by Kristen Satterfield embarks on an absorbing narrative steeped in suspense, alliances, and turbulent change. Loran finds herself thrust into a new school devoid of friends and parental support, yet her resilience remains steadfast. If she is to survive, she must face the challenges of her new reality—a reality her oblivious parents fail to comprehend. Loran confronts the complexities of adolescence and the transformative power of resilience in the face of adversity. Tension builds in this story, and I will await book 2.

Zee David's Mistric is a captivating who-done-it that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It will have you guessing the outcome and rethinking your conclusions more than a few times. While reviewers recommend starting with the first book in the series, this standalone sequel still delivers a suspenseful experience. With its compelling storyline and relentless momentum, I recommend this book. I am a fan of audiobooks. The narration was fabulous in this one.

The Falls on 51 by Steve Kobb is worth the read.
I chose this book first because of the cover and synopsis. I thought it would be more of a mystery with a sweet romance, but once I got into it, I was listening in the car and on my walks with the dog. Willow's determination shines as she is thrust into a whirlwind of challenges. In charge of problem-solving a broken pump ordeal before a grand cooperate party and after her boss has a bicycle accident, Willow runs into various problems with passwords, security, and politics. It was different from what I usually read, but I enjoyed it. Recommend.
