Good story until the last hour

Good story, although very complicated. The coincidences toward the end of the book got to be too much. Too pat. Great narration as always.

Historia
A deeply personal work about identity and belonging in a nation coming apart at the seams, Homeland Elegies blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of longing and dispossession in the world that 9/11 made. Part family drama, part social essay, part picaresque novel, at its heart it is the story of a father, a son, and the country they both call home.

Thought-provoking and compassionate
Revisado: 01-23-21
Loved this so much. The characters are nuanced and balanced, the story illuminating about so much the Muslim community in this country experiences. I learned a great deal, and feel it has made me a more thoughtful person about the issues of so much concern, esp during the past twenty years. The power of great art!

Historia
Until a chance assignment takes GBI investigator Will Trent to the state penitentiary, and to a prisoner who says he recognizes the MO. The attack looks identical to the one he was accused of eight years earlier. The prisoner’s always insisted that he was innocent, and now he’s sure he has proof. The killer is still out there. As Will digs into both crimes, it becomes clear that he must solve the original case in order to reach the truth

Good storyline and characters but grisly details
Revisado: 09-15-20
I really like all of the characters in this series, they keep me listening. The storyline is suspenseful and definitely holds the readers interest, but I took off one star because of the degree of detail in each death. Absolutely too much horrific and lengthy description about the torture and injuries of the victims, really lessens the appeal of the book for me. I don’t think the graphic details of the victims’ suffering, etc adds to the plot or storyline, just seems unnecessary.

Historia
A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. But it's only when town pediatrician and coroner Sara Linton does the autopsy that the full extent of the killer's twisted work becomes clear. Sara's ex-husband, Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver, leads the investigation - a trail of terror that grows increasingly macabre when another local woman is found crucified a few days later.

Pretty graphic
Revisado: 05-20-20
I’ve enjoyed all of the Will Trent series, and so decided to listen to this one. I think the story could have been done just as well without including the graphic and repugnant details of the sexual violence. Really didn’t want to hear that...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Have been searching for a new author - this title is just as good as those by Lee Child. Dick Hill is fabulous as always. Can't recommend highly enough. Good mix of adventure/action and character development.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommend!!

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

Historia
Since his boyhood Mevlut Karataş has fantasized about what his life would become. Not getting as far in school as he'd hoped, at the age of 12 he comes to Istanbul - "the center of the world" - and is immediately enthralled by both the old city that is disappearing and the new one that is fast being built. He follows his father's trade, selling boza on the street and hoping to become rich like other villagers who have settled the desolate hills outside the booming metropolis. But luck never seems to be on Mevlut's side.

On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Likable character, story seems disjointed..

Seemed more like a set of related short pieces than a novel... In fact, I double-checked the book reviews to see if that's what it was. still, likable character and good legal storylines.
