A legend that I’d never heard of, reaches through time to inspire my life

I think I’ve done some pretty big things in my life. But somehow, with my music, I’m laying down on the job and just being small. After listening to this book – that doesn’t seem like the only way to go anymore. I learned about people that seem superhuman, but at the same time are leaving the door open for me to step up. And it’s about much more than career accomplishment. It’s about the fabric of love and life. I just finished listening, and I’m starting again on chapter 1, so I can really let this sink in. I’m so thankful to Quincy Jones, and his wonderful family of musicians, mentors, teachers, and more. I pray for strength and courage to grow!

This book answers questions I’ve been searching for all my life.

This book for me, changes the landscape of human life. The history and science, the humor and brilliant comparisons. I am a 62 year old woman with a curious mind , not willing to swallow repetitive dogma that instinctively feels false. How glorious to be vindicated and educated, even as I fear yet more change in my life.

True North in a Troubled Time

I love this book. Even though it was read in a very strongly, opinionated tone, there was something about the confidence that felt reassuring. It made sense of things that I do that feel scary, but necessary. Things that I debate inside, over and over. It also had a section that was shockingly a -moral. An analogy that used slavery as if it could ever enlighten anyone. I took that section to mean that even wise people that know about love, can be truly poisoned by our culture, and still have a long way to go. But I feel, in the end, if that section can be seen for what it is, a failing, other parts in the book can be used as encouragement to our better self.

Tess Dare is absolutely one of my favorite fiction authors of all time! I just love her work! Entertaining, spellbinding, and funny- with beloved characters you can fall in love with. What a treasure.

I loved this book

As I continue to try to be "right sized," simplifying and recently moving into a tiny home of 350 Square feet, this book was a wonderful addition to the many writers I have listened to. Like wise friends, some are willing to go where others are not. This book is full of live and beauty, as much as it is practical ideas and advice. I highly recommend this book, regardless of your age. And for those who are 60 or older, like me, I think this book will land even more deeply. I am grateful for Margareta Magnusson.

Distressing and misogynistic

This book was just one long saga of rage, and hatred toward the lead female character. I found myself wading through chapter after chapter, until I finally didn't care.

Inspiring and life changing

I loved the way Chris shared what it feels like when people and the medical culture act like chemo and radiation is the only way to respond to cancer, yet you want to do something else!
I also love the way. he walks through the different areas of my life that I can improve. I literally have been going chapter by chapter, and making changes. I am also working with homeopathy, IFS mental health therapy, chiropractic, and massage. This book is a good companion as I weed through my life and respond to my body's message of cancer. I'm not out of the woods yet, but I'm on my way.

A supper fun romantic social justice action story

Wow, I love the way frustrations about the crushing Wright of patriarchal, racist status quo, and deep family messages are intertwined with fun, mystery, luscious food, friendship and romance. What a ride! I loved this book and look forward to more of Chu's writing!

I learned things I am already using

I love the clear explanation of how each specific exclusion gets interpreted and causes harm. I especially love examples of what to do instead, and how to handle a slip with respect and a good chance of bringing people closer together.
