Keep your political opinions to yourself.
Revisado: 02-22-21
The narration was wonderful. the storyline was great too, except for the one opponent that has to be defeated multiple times. That got old real quick. I was also not a fan of the author inserting their contemporary political opinions into a sci-fi novel. I'm here to get away from that type of stuff. No one likes celebrities spouting their opinions, so you shouldn't either.

The human soldiers stranded on the planet Paradise have been recruited into an alien legion to do the dirty jobs that the high-tech species won't do. Their first mission is to kick the enemy off a backwater planet no one cares about. It's a simple assignment, except everyone has a hidden agenda, and the planet could become a deathtrap.

Weak writing
Revisado: 06-21-19
Water ripple scene stolen from Jurassic Park and clearance code from Return of the Jedi. I didn't think that was cool. Every character acting just like Joe Bishop, I couldn't keep them straight. Their individual stories were not advanced, had a hard time caring about them. The stump the chump writing style, "I found a. piece of metal from an explosion and it will win us the battle", then waiting forever to get to the point. Weakest book in the series.

Romance Novel
Revisado: 05-01-19
Kinda mad this was in the Sci-fi genre when I got it. She goes back in time. That is all the Sci-fi in this book. It then becomes a lengthy Romance Novel that has little point to the story. The triumph over the main bad guy is told to one of the main characters after the fact.

Historia
Rosemary Harper doesn't expect much when she joins the crew of the aging Wayfarer. While the patched-up ship has seen better days, it offers her a bed, a chance to explore the far-off corners of the galaxy, and, most importantly, some distance from her past. An introspective young woman, she's never met anyone remotely like the ship's diverse crew, including Sissix, the exotic reptilian pilot; chatty engineers Kizzy and Jenks, who keep the ship running; and Ashby, their noble captain.

Is this a young adult novel?
Revisado: 08-31-17
What disappointed you about The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet?
The author was so descriptive about things that did not add to the story. Everyone had cute names, so it was hard to follow what character was what. I had no idea how many people were on the ship. The narrator did not change her voice much to distinguish between characters.I could only get four hours in before I had to stop. Thank goodness I got this on a two for one sale.
What was most disappointing about Becky Chambers’s story?
Boring.
How could the performance have been better?
Narrator should change her voice for the main characters.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet?
No idea, all of it. I wouldn't have published this book.

Historia
More than 3,000 years have passed since the first events recorded in Dune. Only one link survives with those tumultuous times: the grotesque figure of Leto Atreides, son of the prophet Paul Muad'Dib, and now the virtually immortal God Emperor of Dune. He alone understands the future, and he knows with a terrible certainty that the evolution of his race is at an end unless he can breed new qualities into his species.

One long conversation.
Revisado: 05-09-17
this must be the worst Dune book I have listened to. For a 16 some hour-long audiobook there was five minutes of action. The whole book could have been just a paragraph in another book with an actual story line.

Not a lot of Harkonnen stories for a book titled as such. There were very good storylines in this book however.

Romance
Revisado: 07-02-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would only recommend this to fans of the series. You have to listen to it to move the storyline ahead. It was slow moving and pretty boring. The romantic storyline did not seem plausible.
What could Julian Stockwin have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Less high society drama.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Love stories narrated by Christian Rodska.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.

Great story about Falcon
Revisado: 12-04-14
What did you like best about Star Wars? What did you like least?
I loved the rich history of the millennium falcon. The worst part was the abrupt lazy ending. I feel it was written by a ninth grade creative writing student that didn't know how to end the story. cheap and lame.
Would you ever listen to anything by James Luceno again?
No way.
What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He has a good range of voices. I enjoy his work.
Was Star Wars worth the listening time?
I'm torn. it was, until the ending cheapened the book.
Any additional comments?
the book should have ended as book 1 of a trilogy. that way, the author could expand on the story and not take a lazy way out.
