I really like this series

I follow this on royal road and it’s one of my favorites. The story is great and I really like the characters. Narrator seems to be doing a lot better than book one, hopefully he keeps growing with the series. Get the book you won’t regret it.

Milo, is awesome, and as one review mentioned he does totally remind me of Bean from Ender's Game. When exploring a new world it helps to be a bioengineered super engineer. Also cheating using physics is the best. if you like LITRPG you will love Tunnel Rat, and it's parallel book "Butcher of Gadobhra" whenever it makes it up on Audible.
I dont completely love the Narrator, but he does ok. He didnt ruin the book or anything, just was a bit over the top in a few places and a bit flat in others. Over all though minor issues for me, 4 stars on performance. (better than I could do,)

This might be the DUMBEST MC in all of literature

I just dont have any words for how dumb this MC is. Honestly, without plot armor, he would have died before chapter 5. world is interesting, power system is also interesting. it is a Solo Leveling clone, but the MC is almost unbearable. The only saving grace is the narrator is pretty decent.

Good first story

I have read a lot of Shane Purdy's books now, and its pretty obvious that this was his first. That said its better than I have read from a lot of other authors, and I really hope Shane continues to post audiobooks. This series in particular shows off that growth and very quickly it has grown to something I look forward to each new release.

If you liked this book, I do recommend looking for "Wolf of the Blood Moon" and the "Reapers Resurgence" on kindle unlimited as both of those are absolutely fantastic... hopefully we see audio versions at some point.

I really enjoy this series and I can’t wait for the next book! My only complaint is that Aria’s accent changed from a light French to a slight Scottish. Somewhat minor issue I’ll admit.

I first read this as a kid maybe 13 years old. I LOVED it, off and on I look for it on Audible and I am so glad they finally added it.
Timothy Zahn is a fantastic author, the original creator of Grand Admiral Thrawn and many other great books. To me the Icarus Hunt is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read.

interesting, thought-provoking, brilliant

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the feel of it, the overall sense of realness WW1 brings to the story.

What does Michelle Ford bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

the accents, if you are not a British citizen than the rhythm of the dialog wouldn't be present as vividly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

to avoid any spoilers, I would just say that the entire journey of hard won Freedom was very moving and a very dear concept.

Any additional comments?

This story is a great retelling of Cinderella, with WW1 as a back drop. That said it is very difficult to say you can't see the ending coming... but this is definitely a book that proves, it's not the destination but the journey that matters. You will enjoy a new landscape as you travel down a fresh path into an old tale. It may even open your eyes to the thought that Fairy Tales may come in, at first glance, ordinary packages.
