Historia
Emilly Prado retraces her experience coming of age as a prep-turned-chola-turned-punk in this collection that is one-part memoir-in-essays and one-part playlist, zigzagging across genres and decades, much like the rapidly changing and varied tastes of her youth.

A biography for the ages
Revisado: 04-12-22
The author sets a tone for a coming of age biography I really enjoyed. Their writing style and description of the events make it feel like as if you there with her. I enjoyed it more on audible because you can hear the emotions and tones. Some of the stories shared was upsetting to hear and there were times I wanted to tell her that everything will be ok. I think people who are going through their personal challenges find it difficult to share, this author showed me how vulnerable and strong she can be. Keep up the great work!

Historia
Sophia Chang is a badass of the music industry. As the daughter of Korean immigrants in predominantly white suburban Vancouver, she grew up shunning the “model minority” myth. Armed with a fierce sense of independence, she moved to New York City and infiltrated the world of hip-hop, yet remained mostly in the shadows of the artists she supported. With her debut memoir, Sophia Chang is finally ready to grab the mic for herself.

Mesmerizing
Revisado: 11-21-19
Sophia Chang reminds me of the strength and will of my mother. As son of a family who were refugees of the Vietnam war I understood the struggle my parents went through to raise us and I’m thankful everyday for what they have done for us. Sophia’s story about the challenges of identity, sexism, racial bigotry, love and complications of life struck a cord in my own personal experience. Thank you for sharing this with us! I look forward to hearing more about you in the future #wutang
