Would you consider the audio edition of 12 Rules for Life to be better than the print version?

Yes. The author is an accomplished public speaker and it shows in the narration of his book. He uses tone, meter, and pitch to great advantage, driving a compelling narrative even when divining into intellectually challenging topics.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The lobster, of course. It's a such a quirky story and it captures the originality of Peterson's thought while providing an unforgettable framework describing how much of the world (unfortunately) works.

What about Jordan B. Peterson’s performance did you like?

Peterson's performance is incredibly passionate. What comes through is a fundamentally good man who wants the best for people.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

Rule 2: Treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping. It's very simple, but it's something that each and everyone one of us overlooks, often to our detriment.

Any additional comments?

This is the type of book you'll find yourself reading multiple times because the ideas are so rich and there's so much to explore. This, in my opinion is the mark of a great book, one that gets more interesting each time you (re) read it.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't think of a particular audience who would enjoy this book. One of the problems was that it was scattered and unfocused and pardon my pun, simplistic. It seems like there are the beginnings of two or three good books contained in the ideas of this book. However, the authors need to decide to focus and develop these.

Would you ever listen to anything by Alan Siegel and Irene Etzkorn again?

Probably not, there really wasn't a whole lot of meaningful content in this book, it seemed like the authors were just trying to capitalize on a fad.

What didn’t you like about Fleet Cooper’s performance?

He did this weird thing whenever he was quoting another person. He would take on this creepy voice almost like Jack Donaughy's nemesis in 30 rock.

What character would you cut from Simple?

I would probably start with the narrator.

Any additional comments?

Yes, save your credit and skip this one. There's a ton of great information on simplicity on the web. This book has neither depth nor breath and therefore offers nothing above and beyond what you can find with a simple Google search.
