The story line was weak, the heroine inane, and the hero was an ass. The narrator could not imitate male voices well and it jarred my hearing. Where are the strong heroines and gallant heroes? The basic story had potential but it fell into another sterotyped regency romance.

Interesting plot and I love the characters. I had a difficult time putting this one down! Of course, I always loved Mallory in the previous novels! Can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

Better than the second book in the series. The plot wasn’t strong but the female characters were. I was hoping for a more unique story but it was still quite fun to read.

Not my favorite

Whereas the characters are interesting and narration good, I will give this novel 4 stars overall, however it does not have a strong plot. I was getting bored about half way through. Even though the love scenes were well written, it was the main focus of the story. I loved the first novel in this series so hope that the next one is more to my liking.

What can I say—after reading dozens of mediocre novels I discovered a truly gifted novelist who has an amazing ability to bring a story and its characters to life! The narrator was also excellent!!! I will be continuing to read this series!

Fabulous writing style and historically correct setting and social norms. Slowly building and intoxicating love story with just the right amount of romance!!! Nicholas Boulton is always devastating in his narration. Five stars!!!

What a fabulous writer and story!! Finally a heroine who isn’t a simpering teenager!! Loved the older woman, younger man scenario. Great characters!!! Of course Alex Wyndham never disappoints!!!!

Unexpected pleasure

I liked this book. Some of the reviews were negative, so I initially put off reading the story. It was lovely. I liked all the characters and the story itself was interesting with building awareness and romance. Great sex scenes and a super Narrator!
