Nonsense, utter nonsense. ZERO character development; and the plot relies on a series of coincidences. This is not a mystery, or a police procedural; it’s more like a Lifetime move in book form. And the narrator has breathy whispery voice that is beyond annoying. I’ll save you a credit. HARD PASS.

Great complex legal thriller! Reminded me of The Firm; plenty of bad actors, but with a sympathetic and likable protagonist. Narration was excellent. Maybe not a 5 star listen, but a very solid 4.5!

I feel like it I should have liked this book; I think it’s probably a timely and important book, but I just couldn’t. The plot was disjointed and convoluted, and it was packed with a huge cast of extremely unlikeable characters. I listened to the bitter end, but you don’t need to punish yourself. Buy something else....ANYTHING else...

Trite and full of cliches....1 mild spoiler in review

Who doesn’t love a good haunted house story? They’re kind of like pizza, even when they’re bad, they’re still pretty good. Sadly this is not the case here. Yes it was full of cliches, and yes it’s kind of a tired premise; that didn’t even bother me. What bothered me is that NOTHING happens....I keep waiting and waiting and when the “climax” finally occurs I barely recognized it. That coupled with several random and initially interesting plot lines that go absolutely NOWHERE! Random light fixture in the middle of the creepy forest!?? Tell me more; what does it mean? Why is it there? Author....nah you good....
2.5 stars.....

A whole lot of fun!

A likable cast of characters, a novel premise, and plenty of magic! What could be better:) A solid 4.5 stars; we could use a bit more of the protagonist’s backstory, and some more explanation of motives. But I’m assuming that will be covered in the subsequent books. A great new fantasy series, that I am looking forward to diving into!

One of the MOST beautiful and moving books I have ever read. A timely story with complex well developed characters, that will stay with you for a long time. You’ll laugh out loud, and most certainly shed a few tears. It’s a absolute triumph; and I’m completely dejected that it’s over. I really couldn’t love it any more💓

An excellent book that might hit a little TOO close to home; during this current political climate. It skins over some parts where I would have appreciated more detail. But overall an interesting and exciting premise that is well told.
