Historia
Foundlings are disappearing from the workhouse where Oliver Twist once begged for a second bowl of gruel. He sets out to save them, with help from tinkerer, Nell Trent, and a slew of fantastical contraptions - including a mysterious pocket watch that allows its bearer to bend the rules of time. With Oliver's childhood nemesis, the Artful Dodger and her lethal bag of tricks dogging their steps, he discovers that there is more at stake than his own life and the missing orphans.

Dickens, Time Travel, and a Pinch of Steampunk
Revisado: 05-15-20
Imagine Oliver Twist ten years after the events of the novel by Charles Dickens. Now add a splash of time travel and a pinch of steampunk. The result is A Twist in Time by Brent A. Harris.
It is a fast-paced adventure through the streets of Victorian London. Overall, a satisfying listen. I was pulled into the story and found myself breathless as Oliver dashes from one end of London to the other.
I found the use of modern idioms a bit off-putting at first, but the story was so compelling I soon forgot they didn’t fit the era and just enjoyed the ride. But I was surprised, when the otherwise good performer, used the American pronunciation for the Thames.

Michael Pollan, known for his best-selling nonfiction audio, including The Omnivores Dilemma and How to Change Your Mind, conceived and wrote Caffeine: How Caffeine Created the Modern World as an Audible Original. In this controversial and exciting listen, Pollan explores caffeine’s power as the most-used drug in the world - and the only one we give to children (in soda pop) as a treat.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Historia
Charles Dickens' story of solitary miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is taught the true meaning of Christmas by the three ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, has become one of the timeless classics of English literature. First published in 1843, it introduces us not only to Scrooge himself but also to the memorable characters of underpaid desk clerk Bob Cratchit and his poor family, the poorest amongst whom is the ailing and crippled Tiny Tim.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Harry and Jim a perfect combination .

Jim Dale's reading make the stories so much more fun, as if that was possible. Better than the movie.
