Historia
When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

Just a Lot of Fun !
Revisado: 12-19-12
Everything hear is great fun. The Narrator is the best ever. The story line is twisting and turning and concludes well. Listen to it for just a stress relieving escape.

Historia
The Culture - a human/machine symbiotic society - has thrown up many great Game Players, and one of the greatest is Gurgeh. Jernau Morat Gurgeh. The Player of Games. Master of every board, computer and strategy. Bored with success, Gurgeh travels to the Empire of Azad, cruel and incredibly wealthy, to try their fabulous game...a game so complex, so like life itself, that the winner becomes emperor. Mocked, blackmailed, almost murdered, Gurgeh accepts the game, and with it the challenge of his life - and very possibly his death.

Good Story
Revisado: 12-19-12
"Player of Games" had interesting concepts, it made you think. It was a look at the
galactic federation called "the Culture". The talking ships and robots were very good and something different. Of the 3 Iain Banks Culture books that I have listen to, this is the only good one.

Historia
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender. Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it....

Story is not worth the time
Revisado: 12-19-12
The story is just not there. You put in all this time waiting for something that should be worth it and it never happens. Not nearly as good as "Player of Games". And that was not great. But it was the best of the 3 I have listen to.

Historia
The Scavenger species are circling. It is, truly, provably, the End Days for the Gzilt civilization. An ancient people, organized on military principles and yet almost perversely peaceful, the Gzilt helped set up the Culture 10,000 years earlier and were very nearly one of its founding societies, deciding not to join only at the last moment. Now they've made the collective decision to follow the well-trodden path of millions of other civilizations; they are going to Sublime, elevating themselves to a new and almost infinitely more rich and complex existence.

This is my 3rd Iain Banks Culture Novel. The Ships are the only fun thing about the culture series. They made this book bearable. At a few points the story was even a little disgusting. "Player of Games" was good. This one listen to only if your crazy about the ships. Because they are funny. The Story line is not worth all the listening time.

The laws of thermodynamics drive everything that happens in the universe. From the sudden expansion of a cloud of gas to the cooling of hot metal - everything is moved or restrained by four simple laws. Written by Peter Atkins, one of the world's leading authorities on thermodynamics, this powerful and compact introduction explains what these four laws are and how they work, using accessible language and virtually no mathematics.

Reality 36 Could have been Much Better
Revisado: 10-06-11
The Tech was cool. A picture of the future that was different and possible.
However, the narrator was very annoying. Just about the time I had finally
gotten used to the narrator's voice, the story starts America Bashing. The
female protagonist was very refreshing, the andriod and cyborg not as much.
And then the story's ending was disapointing.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.
