Historia
You probably haven't noticed them. But they've noticed you. They notice everything. That's their job. Sitting quietly in a nondescript car outside a bank making note of the tellers' work habits. Lagging a few car lengths behind the Brinks truck on its daily rounds. Surreptitiously jiggling the handle of an unmarked service door at the racetrack. They're heisters.

Five valuable lessons you can learn by listening to Bust: When you hire someone to kill your wife, don't hire a psychopath. Don't use Drano to get rid of a dead body. Those locks on hotel room doors? They're not very secure. A curly blond wig isn't much of a disguise. Secrets can kill.

Terrible
Revisado: 06-05-23
I couldn’t finish this one. I got about an hour and a half in, and I’m surprised I made it that far. Every single character is a totally hatable absolute scumbag. There are no redeeming qualities in any of the characters or the story. It’s littered with tons of unnecessary slurs. And the narrator’s voice is ridiculous and bizarre. Count me out.

The setting is Carmel, California - a scenic, peaceful tourist haven where James Dewitt is the police force's only detective. His usual caseload is stolen bicycles and an occasional burglary. I picked this one up on a whim, having never heard of it or its author. I was surprised at how good of a story this was. It felt like it took a while to get going, but I’m glad I continued listening. This was a good listen and worth the credit.

I found this book a very interesting listen. The only qualms I had was some of the language and attitudes are dated, but overall found this to be good explanation and critical thinking of Christianity, suited for both believers and nonbelievers alike.

Historia
It was the end of World War II. FDR's New Deal had redefined American politics. Taxes were at an all-time high. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki had created a fear of total annihilation. The rise of secret government agencies and sanctions on business had many watching their backs. America's sense of freedom was diminishing... and many were desperate to take that freedom back.

A Fantastic Prequel!
Revisado: 09-11-21
Definitely listen to before playing the game. This book successfully sets up the story and establishes the universe for both BioShock 1 & 2. Its is not only a riveting story but thoroughly explains how Rapture came to be and everything it went through in the ten years from when it was built to not long before the first game begins. It entails a lot of information not provided by the games and anything you wanted to know about Rapture prior to the first game will be in here. Narrator was perfect for this book.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 09-11-21
Cons:
A very few parts are in the story are sung, but they are not sung well and, short as they are, can be hard to listen to.
Story gets a little slow in the middle.
I thought the twist ending was slightly farfetched. Not impossible, but didn't feel likely, even for this kind of story.
Pros:
Narrator did a fantastic job.
Music and sound effects really enhanced the story and made it even more enjoyable, especially the music.
The story itself is good and interesting. A teenage girl playing detective in New Orleans!
A kind of afterword by the author that was included was neat.

Great Accompaniment to the Movie
Revisado: 04-25-21
Nice it was narrated by Helena herself. And the story is overall good. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of details in a lot of places. There was a lot of description lacking and I honestly only knew what things or characters looked like because I saw the movie. Anyone experiencing this alone will have to imagine quite a bit.

Historia
The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal, a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss.

What is motivation? Why do we feel totally paralyzed to do certain things, and utterly unable to quit others? Too many people conclude, falsely, that they are just lazy or lacking in willpower. But what they lack is a correct understanding of their own minds, of motivation, and the way that it operates.

I Can't Agree With the Bad Reviews. Great Book!
Revisado: 01-24-21
Two things to bear in mind before listening: This is not a rip-roaring fantastical adventure. It is information and analysis. That's it. I honestly don't know why people were expecting this to be so overly riveting. Secondly, it is not hard to follow if you actually pay attention. Yes he uses big words, and yes he uses long sentences. However, he always explains what he means and almost always has an example to help explain even further. I don't consider myself super intellectual, and I understood the material just fine.
Having said that, this is an excellent listen. It is a thorough look into what drives us to perform certain behaviors and lifestyles, and what we can do to change that if we need to. I learned a lot from this book and have a better understanding of why I procrastinate and how to get past that. I feel this is a very useful guide for anyone trying to stop a habit, or start one, as it covers both sides of the problem.
