I've been on a Stephen King kick for the past few months and thought The Shining stood out as a true classic. Even though the voice of the narrator was rough in the beginning, he gets better as the story picks up. Great references of different points in time when time fast forwards a couple of times. The True Knot are the perfect group of bad guys to rule hate and hope they get what's coming. But of course, my favorite part is finding out what Danny has been up to and what he's willing to do to get sober. So for now on, whenever I decide to read The Shining, I'll immediately follow it up with Doctor Sleep.

Felt So Bad for Carrie

Man, what a story. Even though it was a good book, it was also a giant feel bad. Everywhere Carrie went, sadness and bullying followed. She's a very nice, polite and well mannered girl. Come home to a crazy religious fanatic is another feel bad; one if the reasons why I stay away from that sorta stuff. Even though the students died in the fire, they only had themselves to blame, harsh it might sound, no one deserves to die. This is probably where f@$# around and find out started.

The narration performance was pretty lackluster. She was very monotone all throughout. It was King who carried the performance along. I just had to get to the dreaded prom scene. Would I listen to it again? Maybe for the King intro delving into his early days before stardom. Other than that, I'm not touching this book for awhile.

I've been a sucker for King's books ever since I finished Pet Sematary. It's easily my favorite of his. But The Shining? is a very close second. The narrator did an okay job, just wished his voice didn't sound like he was whispering all the time. Overall, a very good read.

Sometimes, Dead is Better

I've watched the original movie a dozen times, and seen the Dead Meat Kill Count video covering the movie a dozen times as well. But they always say, the books are so much better.

This book is the first King book I've finished. And it's leaving me wanting more. The build up is tremendous and downright terrifying. Even when I knew what was gonna happen before it did, it still was scary to witness. The narration was top notch; Michael C. Hall at the top of his game. Will definitely be looking for more of his work.

*Spoilers*

The one thing that I didn't like about the story, was how King just simply told you Gage was gonna die. He blended it nicely with a scene of Louis and Gage flying a kite. But every now and then, King would splash in the event very subtlety. Me personally, I didn't really cared for it. I wanted more what the movie did, a full blown scene of the deadly accident. But King made it up by giving you glimpses of Gage's bloody baseball cap, his flown off shoes etc. And the detail on what Gage's decaying body looked like when he came back from the burial grounds.

All in all, a very good read. It's not something you'd wanna read back to back. Norma dying and seeing Judd go through that was bad enough the first go around. It'll stay in my library until a dark, stormy night in October when I get the itch to listen to this book again. But I guess it's true what they say: sometimes, dead is better.

It was amazing to hear all of these stories based around the Night of the Living Dead world. most of the stories were fantastic, Dead Man's Curve being my favorite. But there were some duds, thanks to the narrrators that made them droll, boring, and uninteresting. And then there was the story written by John Russo. I was very excited when I got to his story, but then was immediately taken out when he was going for shock value. Killing a dog, a nun, and a priest just for a reaction doesn't make for a good read. The rest of the story was fine, but the events I mentioned really took me out of it. All on all, it's a blast to listen to. Highly recommend for any zombie lover out there!

Such a classic! While listening, I kept imagining the scenes from the movie. The only complaint I have is that it didn't last longer. But oh well, nothing wrong with multiple listens.

I loved the story. Very traditional R.L. Stine here; so if you're a fan of his work, then this is a good choice for your collection. The only downside is that the narrator is really, really quiet. Luckily, I have my phone connected to my car stereo through Bluetooth, so I could turn the volume loud enough to hear her. Hopefully, if I ever come across one of her narrations again, she'll be louder.

I didn't know that this audio book would've been performed by actors. Was generally surprised and impressed with the music, sound effects etc. I think they got the actor who played Spider-Man from the 90s animated series. But I could be wrong. This is a hidden gem in my library for sure

I had no clue that there were books from the Ghostbusters movies. Having both 1 & 2 in one audio book is a real steal. If anyone I know ask me for suggestions on what to listen to, I'd point them to the Ghostbusters.
