Cybernetically enhanced and trained as a warrior, Mira is not only peerless on the battlefield but also possesses the ability to control the Mist that's pervaded every machine—and person—she encounters. Setting her vengeful sights on Nora Lancaster, the woman who betrayed her uncle and took over his empire, Mira wages a war against the city's competing overlords, tearing apart their fragile alliances and turning them against one another.

I Wanted to Like This.
Revisado: 12-03-24
I don't write reviews unless I am blown away by a book or I really wanted to like a book but couldn't.
I have listened to books 1-3 didn't finish 3, I still have over 2 hours left on Book 3. The concept is great, the world building is unique. It goes wrong when it comes to the characters. The story arc is a little one note in all of the books. The main character is 2 dimensional and there is absolutely no growth or change. Maybe it gets better in book 4 but i just can't.

I love these characters, the story went in so many different directions, it kept me guessing where it was eventually going to go.
I can't wait for more. Amy Landon did a great job.

Great addition to the series. With minor nit-picks
Revisado: 03-04-21
Again Chris has given us another great addition to Emily’s journey. There are only a few things that I have to critique. I miss Tavia as the narrator Saskia did a great job but I miss the voices that Tavia gave to the characters. I know how hard it can be but Emily should stop blaming herself for everything that happens around her, she is on her way to becoming one of the most powerful sorceress in her world, she needs to start believing In her power and her mind. If she can’t deal with the blame other people put on her maybe she needs to disappear for a while, maybe explore the unknown content that appears on the old maps. Anyway great story keep up the great work Chris.

This was very entertaining, had just the right amount of pop culture references and snark with out being over done. Tess Irondale is Awesome she is one of the best narrators on Audible.

Meh!
Revisado: 11-30-20
The first book was great. This one is entertaining but the character arc seems to be a bit strange and not consistent with what happened in the last book. Up until the last chapter I though I had figured out a twist that was coming but never developed.

I Found This Very Interesting
Revisado: 04-26-18
Would you listen to Furies of Calderon again? Why?
Probably not. There are few books that I listen to more than once.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hard to say, I like how this book follows many different characters.
Any additional comments?
There is a Fanfare of horns that seems to take place at random times during the book and i have no idea why its there. It takes me out of the story and is very annoying.

Good Intro to an Interesting World
Revisado: 03-19-18
Would you listen to A Court of Thorns and Roses again? Why?
I don't think so it was a Great one time listen, but not a book i would listen to over and over
Who was your favorite character and why?
Too many to mention and it would be a spoiler if I said.
Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes she is a great narrator.
Any additional comments?
This is a great intro to the world that the characters live in. It is kind of slow but I recommend getting through it and into the second and third books, things get a lot more interesting. But you will need the information in this book to understand the world that they live in.

A little detail and history can go a long way
Revisado: 02-01-18
What disappointed you about Cast in Shadow?
Almost everything. I saw the ratings on this book and thought for sure i would have a new series to add to my collection. I need a little more description about the world the story takes place. I couldn't relate to any of it, are we on earth, another world, what is the history of this world? How did the society come to be as it is. Anything giving you something to relate to would have been helpful in getting me involved in the characters and their world. Instead i got words that had no meaning. Characters would switch languages when they were talking and I guess that was supposed to mean something, like it was an insult but with no distinction of this how can you tell. Characters are very two-dimensional to me. You get dropped in to this world with no primmer I had no context to anything that was going on. I stopped with 20 min left.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Not the next in this series
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The accents were unnecessary. A Jamaican accent for the cat people? Why? A British accent would work or something more purring and drawn out. Again strange choices made here
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The narrators voice was nice when she wasn't using an accent
Any additional comments?
This is my personal opinion. I just didn't like the book, I am glad that others really enjoyed it. I am very picky about my audio books.

There was not enough character development. While i liked the book it seemed to be almost the same story as the first book.

Not for Everyone
Revisado: 02-14-17
Is there anything you would change about this book?
A faster pace would be nice. A deeper plot. Essentially it is reality TV in book form with a paranormal twist.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
A little more information about the characters and history and description of the paranormal world in the book would have been a good addition
Could you see Covenant College being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No. the story is too slow for a TV Show.
Any additional comments?
The humor and jokes throughout the book were good.
