Historia
David Small is the new rabbi in the small Massachusetts town of Barnard’s Crossing. Although he’d rather spend his days engaged in Torah study and theological debate, the daily chores of synagogue life are all-consuming—that is, until the day a nanny’s body is found on the rain-soaked asphalt of the temple’s parking lot.

Historia
Wyoming's new governor isn't sure what to make of Joe Pickett, but he has a job for him that is extremely delicate. A prominent female British executive never came home from the high-end guest ranch she was visiting, and the British Embassy is pressing hard. Pickett knows that happens sometimes - these ranches are stocked with handsome young cowboys, and "ranch romances" aren't uncommon. But no sign of her months after she vanished? That suggests something else.

not the best in the series, still good read if on sale
Revisado: 03-03-24
Supposedly the next book in series but doesn't really flow from the previous one. Morals and ethics of characters seem to be getting worse as evidence by Nate's actions at end - a lack of due process

It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

love the series, cannot wait for the next one. This book isn't among her best though, jumps around a bit too much for my liking

Plot good, violent graphic sex needlessly included
Revisado: 04-12-23
don't understand the author's addition of violent multiple rape scenes. totally unnecessary. the series is great without it. hopefully next book is better.

not her best book
Revisado: 09-23-22
not her best book. maybe she was in a deadline. A large part of the book is just a long monolog by the heroine. Almost everyone gets taken out by some injury leaving only Ms. G left standing to solve the case. And the little surprise guest hidden for 7 years? really? if you haven't read this author before, start with a different book. She really is a better writer.

Historia
There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

no honor among law enforcement professionals
Revisado: 06-20-22
paints a dark view of law officers in S. California. No battle buddy for Ballard and she crosses lines. difficult to believe she is such a lone ranger and no camaraderie with other female officers. so much back stabbing and over use of the F word. Makes me hesitant to read more in this series. disheartening as I am such a Connelly fan. Blue bloods & criminal minds have disagreements but they play nice together in the sandbox

another great Connelly read, just not his best
Revisado: 06-07-22
5-star narration & plot, yet 3-star story due to violence & bad language & something else I cannot quite put my finger on, but if you like this series you won't be disappointed. Haller's personal life still lacking, same pushing legal limits without completely crossing over, but plenty of twists/turns

Historia
Being an undercover poison taster for the rich and famous might sound glamorous, but for Isobel Avery it means stomaching bad clients and even worse coffee. The one side of the job that lives up to expectations is the money. Which is just as well for Izzy, since she needs an awful lot of it. Who knew when she made a lifelong commitment to a man that it would be one year living with him and the rest of her life paying for it?

She's thinking about cleaning vomit- covered name brand shoes to sell on ebay for money??? Smarter indulgent male supervisor?? this isn't the series for me.

Historia
When Fin Macleod catches up with elusive poacher and former childhood friend Whistler Macaskill, the two witness a freak natural phenomenon - a bog burst - that drains a loch of all its water in a flash, revealing a mud-encased light aircraft with a sickeningly familiar moniker on its side. Both men immediately know what they will find inside: the body of Roddy Mackenzie, a friend whose flight disappeared more than 17 years earlier. But when Whistler's face appears to register something other than shock, an icy chill of apprehension overtakes Fin.

great narration of otherwise very dark, unhappy story. would be nice if there was some happiness to break the mean, tragic circumstances that continually surround the main characters. Worth a credit, just kept hoping something good would happen- everyone deserves some happiness
