Historia
In the wake of their recent loss, the Caverns and Creatures gang are left hanging. Do their choices amount to more than waiting around to die of thirst and leaping to a quicker death? Probably, or else this would have been a much shorter story.

Another cliffhanger ending and another story I will no doubt be listening to for next time! Jonathan Sleep's narration is (as always) on point for this story, too. damn good work all of you!

Historia
When you discover the world is a computer program, and you figure out that by altering the code you can time travel and perform acts that seem like magic, what can possibly go wrong? Pretty much everything. Just ask Brit, who has jumped around in time with such abandon that she has to coexist with multiple versions of herself. Now, Brit the Elder finds that her memories don't match Brit the Younger's.

Scott, how do you think women are supposed to act?
Revisado: 07-01-18
Seriously, though. Gwen? She's angry until suddenly without context she's not and all Martin does is be honest and forthright with her. The Brits? They're normal until Philip tries his best to save them all and has to keep things from them/her. All be ever did was his very best to help and was forced to lie. The resolution is deeply unfair and unsatisfying on all sides and NOBODY else in the cast calls out Brit for being a bitch or being irrational. Honestly, this would have been a better resolution if Brit had died. The book is a slow, downhill slide into yet another unsatisfying resolution and a little lead in to another story where I'm sure it will be yet another downhill slide into mediocrity. Scott, please. You can do better than this. the first book proved that. your characters have gone from goofy and lovable to increasingly one dimensional and rigid.

Historia
Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer generated and that by altering the code they could alter reality. They traveled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they've done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces. So of course they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

Wasted Potential
Revisado: 05-14-17
Where to begin...
No spoilers here, so feel free to read on. Scott, your writing so far has been really excellent. Through the first 3 books, you've created and expanded the universe within the series in truly fantastic directions. That being said, you have introduced NOTHING new in this book. If read the story, you'll realize nobody has to really explain anything to anyone else. There is no miscommunication between the main characters. Why? No new concepts are introduced. You have a world where you can build anything; do nearly anything, and through the the course of the book you choose to introduce an antagonist that literally cannot harm anyone permanently. This story should have a subplot in a grander story, or a side story not in the main series (like the D6 books in Robert Bevan's Critical Failures). This whole thing felt rushed and weak compared to the rest of the books.
Now for the voice acting: Luke Daniels has classically been great with these voices, but again, it seems like he was rushed, and the acting really doesn't have the polish that the other books have.
Scott, you are better than this. You had so many more options: addressing the greater reality of the world, introducing a faction that believes the file to be some evidence of sacred divinity, aliens, space travel, literally anything and you chose a toothless antagonist and a half-assed morality play?

if you like the critical fails series, D6 and 2D6 are something you need to get. they are just as funny, if not more so than the main story. totally worth it.

Historia
Geralt the Witcher battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike in Sword of Destiny, the second collection of adventures in Andrzej Sapkowski’s groundbreaking epic fantasy series that inspired the Netflix show and the hit video games. Geralt is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless hunter. Yet he is no ordinary killer: His targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

slow at times, but the ending... oh, that ending.
Revisado: 09-30-16
It's hard to put into words good enough to describe, but even if The Witcher as a video game series doesn't interest you in the least, these short stories that preface the main series give you all you need to know about all the main characters to make them feel real and alive. The writer did his job fantastically, and if I could give the narrator a pay raise I'd do it in a heartbeat. 10/10

Seriously. The story is amazing (because HP Lovecraft), but the delivery is singularly amazing because Wayne June has a voice that (as far as science can tell) narrated the birth of our universe and the subsequent elder god invasion shortly thereafter.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Definitely Worth the Listen
Revisado: 03-03-16
The story itself is awesome. As a bit of a literature buff, I have to say to Scalzi: STOP WITH THE HE SAID-SHE SAID. That aside, the content more than makes up for such a shortfall. Will Wheaton is also a great narrator if you appreciate his style. Definitely worth it.
