When the Australian Mystery Writers’ Society invited me to their crime-writing festival aboard the Ghan, the famous train between Darwin and Adelaide, I was hoping for some inspiration for my second book. Fiction, this time: I needed a break from real people killing each other. Obviously, that didn’t pan out.

i hope you die in your sleep *gasp*
Wow, just wow.
if you’ve ever watched Bob’s Burgers, you know that there is an episode where Linda! is involved in this women only small business group and she screams women, women, women! And that is how I feel about this book. I love the diverse representation and I loved the fact that it was this island of women who genuinely hated men and for good reason. I mean, I think anybody can hate men in general for a good reason. But it was the fact that the story all came together so beautifully. I loved the fact that we went back-and-forth and it wasn’t really Abby but it actually was. I think what I really enjoyed about this book. The most is the fact that it was written by Alice Feeney, I know that is a odd statement to make, but Alice feeding the way that she writes her books are so intertwined with one another that it’ll always give you that gasp effect. I loved the fact that she set it up so that it almost looked like he was going crazy, which makes sense because that was the whole point. That’s what Abby wanted to do was make this man think that he was crazy, but for a good damn reason, how can you in your mind think for a second that if I can’t have you no one can and that’s the reason why you killed your wife or tried to kill your wife. Who does that? Grady does that’s who. I liked the fact that the note that Charles Whitaker left the only way out is to write. Because it had such a double meaning to it and especially at the end. I love that most of her books. She always includes a black lab or a brown lab or a chocolate lab or whatever you wanna call them. I think this book was really good. Do I think it was her best book yet? No but I still gave this book a five star because it deserves a five star I loved this book because it was so women positive and the fact that like I said the full circle of the story that Abby had written about these women that were in terrible situations, and then they found reprieve in this women on the island I loved I loved the fact that she got to be a mom in the end, even though Grady was a piece of shit, and I loved the thought process of this book.

Henry Kimbell
Revisado: 01-25-25
SPOILERS!!!!
what I think I like about the series is that the characters are very lovable both Lily and Kimbell, I think they’re both very unique characters and just what they both represent how Henry can be very love forward and love, obsessed and poetic and emotional and holding in on connections. But Lily on the other hand is very predictable very satisfactory very focused on the things that she wants to do I genuinely cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out. I liked the fact that while the story was very similar to the first one in the sense of getting away with murder, this one was almost 180 to that is in protecting Henry. I think Lily really wanted to focus on protecting Henry in anyway that she could because I think secretly she starting to fall for him and while he has that grasp from reality of oh, she doesn’t love me she’s starting to fall for him. I think everything Henry said at the end about how what makes their relationship so special is that she doesn’t love him, but he loves her, but I think there’s also a thought of. They’re supposed to be a difference between emotional love and physical love in the sense of you can feel that you’re in love and you want to feel like you would do anything for this person versus on the other side of physical he covered up those bodies for her, for her protection. on the other side of the book, we have Joanne and Richard and again it’s very similar to Henry and Lily‘s relationship in the sense of wanting to protect one another getting that satisfaction and then moving to their in love but not physically in love, especially that scene in the library after they killed his cousin, and they took basically vows to one another. and while I think about that, I also think about how both of them were really obsessed with Stephen King, and there was that Stephen King book that came out. I don’t even know when, but it was about a school shooting that I believe the people who did combine red and got their thought of doing a school shooting because of this book. So maybe that’s just me thinking way too deep into the book because I know that this book has basically been wiped from everywhere and is very hard to get, but I was thinking about how that library is supposed to be theoretically so old and had to be Stephen King books anyway I’m going on my own spiral with that. I did not like that aspect of it. I felt like Joanne was very manipulative of Richard and his friendship and his love for her. I didn’t like their relationship in the aspect of she was a true narcissist, and he was clearly somewhere on the autism spectrum disorder. I did feel like she took advantage of him and that aspect, but I also think there was a very sadistic sign to both of them obviously as they’ve killed several people, but what I really didn’t like was the fact that Richard was like building bombs and like his and goal in life was to be like unknown, murderer and like unknown serial killer. And I think because of all of like that knowledge and all of the other books that I read cause I’m pretty sure I read a very similar book. I’d like somebody wanting to be acknowledged and known to be a murderer or serial killer. I think having that in the back of my head also kind of added to that. I think the book was written very beautifully and was easy to read, the woman that reads for Lily. She always has her W‘s odd and because of that I’m always a little bit distracted.

I really liked this book now isn’t my favorite by her, no I think especially because I’ve just been on a really big binge of all of her books, I don’t think reading them back to back to back is very helpful. However, the book was good. I was kind of glad when Joni died I know that sounds wrong, however, she was the person that stole the cocaine so it was her fault. So she deserve to die in that aspect. I kinda knew that the flashback for Eric‘s brother was them looking for Karin. I know his name was Life but i didn’t physically see his name i listened to the book. I really liked that each of them were at different points in their life, even though they were all the same age. I liked that Maggie was divorced and had one kid, and was content with her divorce. I like that Helen was living the single life and you know just lost her mom and then found out she was pregnant, I liked that Joni was a rockstar. I thought that was really cool and I really liked that Liz was in the middle of whole bunch of shit. I didn’t see a lot of the ending coming, I really didn’t think Joni was going to die however, when she did, I was a little shocked, especially being such a selfish act. I did like, however the very ending the epilogue part where Eric and Maggie were talking about everything that happened or they created a friendship. I liked that we got to meet Helen son. I liked all of the characters in this book very much so besides the bad ones.

well, where to start? this book has been sitting on my shelf for quite some time collecting dust and I had seen that the author was coming out with a new book this year, so I wanted to read this one first now the book itself wasn’t bad, but it felt very much like I read a Kate Alice Marshall book with more of a boring plot line. Not saying that the book wasn’t good. It just wasn’t a book for me. It had a lot to do with being a lesbian and finding out your sexuality and learning about yourself in essence and it had a lot of good undertones. I just don’t know if it was executed the best. The book was an interesting ending with you know the message from Rosie it just all in all was an OK book as mean, as that is, I would definitely read something else by this author, but it wasn’t something that lived up to the cover.

SPOLERS
‘because of you i will drop my towel and swim into the ocean and kick my legs’ i screwed that up but that was the last line in the book. this is not my third book by this author in a row and I again am very pleasantly surprised. Now I won’t lie. I really did think Mia was going to be alive the whole time and so that was kind of a disappointment. However, I did see mia sleeping with Katie‘s fiancé in the very beginning when Mia was on the bathroom floor talking about shame and all that stuff. What I did not see coming was Katie and Finn being in a relationship even if it was only for four months, and what a selfless act of an older sister to break up with the boy that she loved just because it made her younger sister uncomfortable. I really enjoyed this book again. It was a good book. It had a lot of you know. Mental health quotes that did go a long way. I really liked again however every single thing came together at the end and with a nice big bow on it, I did not like Noah’s brother that whole thing kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies I won’t lie about that however, I did like the fact that Noah was trying to protect her in that moment, even if it did not go the correct way. I really liked the fact that she met Noah in that way, that was really sweet and kind. I do feel bad for Noah and his brother the fact that they lost their youngest brother Jacob and the oldest brother had to stay behind be the whipping boy essentially. I also kind of figured out that Katie and Mia didn’t have the same Dad just because of how everything was like put together during those flashbacks however what a difficult thing as a man to decide to raise another person‘s child even though it was his brother. I think this book had a lot of intricate details that all kind of weave and flowed into one another, and I really do like the fact that at the end that Noah was very honest with Finn and was very honest with Katie in the sense of you know this is what really happened? I was doing it to essentially protect myself. I do apologize however you know I still had to also fingers crossed that Katie and Finn get their happy ever after.

I loved this book, this is my second book by her and I’m still very impressed. I think she will be the next author that I read all of her books of I really like how she does a slight focus on mental health aspects. I think she does a lot of clever, speaking analogy’s. If you will I liked the story of this book. I thought it was really interesting. I liked that every single person had a secret, and you know everybody was trying to figure out what their secret was, and how basically in the end everything kinda came to fruition and you were able to tell what really happened. I liked the fact that they were brothers. I think that also added a little bit of more dimension to the book what I didn’t like, however was Heinrich and the fact that he let that man basically drowned, even though Joseph did realistically kill himself, however the fact that Heinrich had the the option to save him and chose not to really bewildered me. I didn’t see that aspect of the book coming so that was a nice little twist at the end but also Heinrich never got the hundred thousand dollars at the end because they had to abandon ship. but also like the sound of this book in the way of like they lived sounds really interesting to me and I could definitely see this actually happening in a way.

I went to this book basically blind, I really liked the book in the sense of it felt very original, and everything that the author had written felt very intentional. I really like that aspect of the book. There were no plot holes, which was really impressive, and I really love that all of the characters in our loved. I really liked the fact that Robin had sex with Bella and it was Bella‘s first time but you know Robin said that it never really happened. She didn’t remember it and that was the reason why they had the falling out, I liked that Anna ended up being the fiancé‘s baby mama I guess in essence I liked how Eleonora and Bella were connected with the death of Sam, I liked how Bella even though she was sad was happy for Robin at the end. I really liked how the book came together with a clear precise picture at the end. What I don’t know is who was the intruder? I liked that the book all in all was beautifully written and very descriptive and like I’ve previously said everything came together so beautifully and so cohesively.

i liked the book, it was more slow paced but still very interesting. i really didn’t like her husband, and comment of your anxiety is no long my problem, i about nearly lost it. How can someone treat their partner of almost 20 years like that. so that upset me, i liked that the person who ended up murdering ben was technically not a main character. i liked it from that aspect also i loved how the book ended with a nice big bow telling us exactly what happened. i liked her description of the scenes, and how she adding in those facts about art and the paintings and the quotes i love when authors do quotes. it was a very good well structured book. i read another by her.

Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

wish there was kinda a trigger warning i guess? i’m going through shit with IVF right now and because of that, i know im responsible for my reaction to the book, not every book is going to have a trigger warning, blah blah blah i get that. however, the book was nicely written. It has been a long time since I have read a non-fiction book in this sense. I liked how the book was lighthearted a me cute and all of the above I really do wish there was an epilogue to the book just to kind of see where all the characters ended I guess? I liked how Lila was really in love with Jim and how she was really in love with him. I didn’t like the fact that her husband came back. I thought that was really weird and suspicious. I liked how the book started with the fact that she came there to kill herself and it was almost like the universe wanted to write the wrong and also she needs a new therapist
