Historia
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

Interesting Perspective
Revisado: 08-12-16
Fantastic, expressive narrator and an interesting twist on the play. Richard Armitage is a gifted actor and narrator and he truly brought all the characters alive (how he kept all the accents straight I don't know!). Quite a new and clever interpretation of certain events I won't mention so as not to spoil the story. Great read! Time to reread the play!

Beautiful Realism
Revisado: 07-18-16
Awesome narrator - her voice was perfect for the role and so full of inflection! This story is very honest. It portrays the results of love and infidelity realistically, without silly Hollywood romance. It strikes true to the heart as you watch a vain and shallow woman gain depth and understanding and wisdom through her trials. She is transformed from a pitiful socialite to a woman of better, higher emotions and convictions. Beautiful story!!

Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

Interesting Approach to Faith
Revisado: 07-13-16
Graham Greene's style is captivating and his exploration of the reluctance of humanity to turn to God, in spite of overwhelming signs and evidence, is quite believable. A very realistic, very human tale. Any believer might commiserate with the atheist protagonists as the doubts and troubles and emotions Greene portrays are so universal and so natural. A good read.

Agonizing but Amazing!
Revisado: 07-09-16
Edith Wharton is brilliant but brutal in her social commentary. She portrays romance without romanticism and brings all thoughts and actions to their logical and final conclusions, however much her readers, with their Hollywood formed consciences, might wish she'd do otherwise. She is true to the age and shows how indecent decent society can really be!

Historia
In a remote corner of early Victorian England, where traditional practices remain untouched by time, Bathsheba Everdene stands out as a beacon of female independence and self-reliance. However, when confronted with three suitors, among them the dashing Sergeant Troy, she shows a reckless capriciousness that threatens the stability of the whole community. Published in 1874, and an immediate best seller, Far From the Madding Crowd established Thomas Hardy as one of Britain's foremost novelists.
