Really good!
Revisado: 05-05-25
Nice, creepy mystery that keeps you guessing! You think you’ve figured it out & are really bugged by your conclusion. How could it be? And then it isn’t! Very satisfying mystery. Could do without the random sound effects & silly music between chapters. Otherwise, well done! Highly recommend.

Every girl dreams of the perfect proposal. And my boss thought it would be a ‘media moment’ if I proposed to my boyfriend, Rex, live on national TV. With everyone watching. Rex said no. Now I’m a social media sensation for all the wrong reasons and hiding out in Hawaii. But because the universe apparently hates me, so is Rex... with his supermodel new girlfriend! To avoid total humiliation I need to find my own irresistible date. And the gorgeous surfer who looks like he’s walked straight from the ocean and into my fantasies is the perfect solution.

Rubbish
Revisado: 04-29-25
I’ve just an hour left on this book. If you’re under 18, you’ll probably love it (beware, super PORNY for many chapters) Most of the characters are immature. Liv is a dipshit “journalist” who doesn’t even bother to ask her ex & his new GF how they met? Dom insists she present her screenplay to his disgusting, crass brother ALONE. She keeps making excuses for the creepy behavior Quentin displays all because she wants him to hear her pitch. It’s really gross & hard to get through. She’s super whiny & unsure of herself which doesn’t really fit someone who leaves behind NYC to stay in unknown territory, alone. And MOST IMPORTANTLY what is happening with Prue, the stray, while she’s staying with Dom? I’m not sure why this book is getting so many 4 ratings. Snore

The story was good until the convoluted, highly improbable ending. Narration was good except for the fella calling out the chapters.

So energy wasted instead of getting to the point. Many times I would have liked to slap the main character because she went from zero to sixty over even the smallest situation. The story was good enough to keep me listening.

Had to up the speed in order to get the story moving but that never happened. Narration wasn’t to my liking, either. Should be renamed: A Witches Guide to Keeping Everyone in the Dark.

I tried
Revisado: 03-02-25
I tried to get through this book which was recommended by a podcaster, who actually knows how to tell a story. How could she think this is a fun, cozy tale? Snore fest, for sure. I was even questioning what era this book was written in? Language that no one uses anymore. No mention of even a cellphone as the main character questions hooking up a landline? She uses a handkerchief to wipe sweat off her face? All of the characters seem naive & I really didn’t care about any of them, especially the whiny main character. So much speculation- I kept wondering when the mystery would begin. A hard pass on this one. Hope I can return it.

Historia
Tara never imagined her introduction to Ireland like this - carrying her mam's ashes to honor her final request: "Tell Johnny I'm sorry.... Take me home." She's never met her mam's estranged brother, Johnny Meehan, who owns an architectural salvage business in Galway. Although Tara is immediately charmed by the medieval city, the locals seem wary of strangers, and a gypsy warns her that death is all around. When Tara arrives at her uncle's stone cottage, the prophesy seems true. A dead man lies sprawled over the threshold in a pool of blood.

Convoluted
Revisado: 01-19-25
I love the Irish Village series. Thankfully this title was free. The main character was frustrating to listen to. The “yankee” accent by the narrator was horrid. Inflection & timing were off. The character, herself was boorish & rude & a terrible communicator. She complained about the Irish withholding information and she was no better. So many characters, twists & turns that I think the author even got confused. The main character played so many scenarios in her head (which we could do for ourselves) that it drew the story on longer than need be. Thankfully the ending was fairly satisfying.

Historia
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.
