Historia
By age twenty-four, Letty Davenport has seen more action and uncovered more secrets than many law enforcement professionals. Now a recent Stanford grad with a master’s in economics, she’s restless and bored in a desk job for U.S. Senator Colles. Letty’s ready to quit, but her skills have impressed Colles, and he offers her a carrot: feet-on-the-ground investigative work, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security.

Here's to the next generation!!!
Revisado: 04-17-22
As a devoted fan of Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers, I could not bear the thought of having no more of either of them. Of course, over the years, we also fell in love with Letty Davenport, Lucas' and Weather's adopted daughter. She has established herself as smart, clinical, capable, funny, ruthless-when-necessary, and totally adorable character. I sure hope this will be the first of a frequently- published series of books, with her as the protagonist. I loved the book. and cannot wait for the next installment. In fact, I immediately listened to it again, as soon as I finished the first time.
So, Mr. Patterson, please....GET TO WORK!

Gotta Love Walt!
Revisado: 05-26-19
This is the classic mix of drama, suspense, true local color, travelogue, romance and laugh-out-loud humor. How can you not love Walt, Vic, Henry, and the whole crew? This was one of my favorite books in the series!

Historia
Secret Service agent Clint Hill brings history intimately and vividly to life as he reflects on his 17 years protecting the most powerful office in the nation. Hill walked alongside Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, and Gerald R. Ford, seeing them through a long, tumultuous era - the Cold War; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Robert F. Kennedy; the Vietnam War; Watergate; and the resignations of Spiro Agnew and Richard M. Nixon.

Worse, the killers are concerned about what Thornton knows, and who he may tell. He finds himself in a game of cat-and-mouse, where the stakes are life and death and the surveillance technology is so sophisticated that he wouldn't believe it existed - if it weren't implanted in his own head.

Who is trying to impersonate Brad Thor???
Revisado: 07-28-13
What disappointed you about The Athena Project?
This book was so totally implausible, that I could not even finish it. It was like a bad imitation of an old Charlie's Angels script. The narrator was just not able to convey the shoot 'em up scenes with anything approaching convincing detail. She has a nice voice, but just not for an action book. I have been a very avid fan of Brad Thor, but this book does not measure up at all.
What could Brad Thor have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
There was just a cliche on every page....all hot women...all chipper dialogue....all deadly shots....all close calls....four women with pistols overpower and kill a force of professional security specialists with machine guns...all without a scratch or messing up their make-up.... It was more like a comic book plot than a novel.
What aspect of Elizabeth Marvel’s performance would you have changed?
She has a lovely voice, but just not for an action novel, and especially not one where she had to narrate for a known protagonist.... Once you get used to a reader like George Guidall being Scott Harvath, it is just not possible for a woman to do him justice, no matter how good she is.
Any additional comments?
Everybody is entitled to an off day. I'll just pay closer attention to the plot line if I give Thor another chance.

DeMille, at his best
Revisado: 07-28-13
What did you love best about The Lion?
Take a great story, add an incredibly talented narrator, and bang!.....you're hooked. Probably not a great idea to start this until you have time to be absorbed by it, because its a great book with a very compelling cast of characters.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Brick's ability to flow between characters with his vocal diversity is impressive. He also took to time to learn how to pronounce all the words properly, something too many narrators don't bother to do. Scott Brick adds enormously to an already compelling book.

Implausible story and trite plot
Revisado: 08-03-11
Could not even finish this book... Were it not for some of the reference to child molestation, this book would seem more suited to teens than adults. It is simply unthinkable that the people in this book would conduct themselves as they do... a federal judge on sabbatical finds a brutalized child and decides not to contact the police or FBI.. just keeps her for a week.... Gets in a shootout... wounds two guys and is wounded himself...and still does not contact law enforcement.. And the readers sing-song cadence drove me crazy.. Could not even finish it!

Which way is up??
Revisado: 10-11-05
I found this book to be riveting. You start to question everything sooner or later. Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? Are there any good guys, or is everybody dirty? What looks like a cliche good little guy versus the big evil multinational corporation will turn back on itself, then twist again before the light shines through. I hope this is the first of a series!!

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

Over too soon!!
Revisado: 08-14-05
I was initially reluctant to start a 40 hours book, but I was astonished at how quickly the time passed. It was over far too soon. I realize this book is a fictionalized version of history, but the foundations in fact make this a very compelling commentary on practices and policies of this country during the Cold War, and beyond. I only wish this book had been twice as long!!
