Wish the author stuck to the forensic aspects of her investigations instead of the endless speil about everything else but.. there is more here about her die-hard commitment to atheism, her self proclaimed genius and her (pretty boring) personal life than there is about the cases she actually contributed to. In hindsight, I would have rather mopped the floor and done the dishes than listen to this book. however, the forensic data is interesting and I would recommend just doing a Google search and reading about all of her cases online .. you save more time and save yourself an audible credit too.. just my $0.02

Bollywood style Holocaust story

Great narration! however the content is more of a Sunday school story filled with cheesy lines about love for humanity, God's love and so on. There is nothing unique in terms of covering the Holocaust either.. even the midwifery barely covers any real midwifery.. over 3000 babies are born just fine without any details ( most of whom were murdered or die after birth.. that's it). A little too unrealistic on the other hand..Case in point ( without giving away too much of a spoiler) - a key character gets shot while escaping a very notorious concentration camp in the final months of the war. the character then recovers (and hold your breath..) marches on Berlin with the Red Army to defeat the Nazis! What's next.. Lazarus?? Bollywood would be proud!

Very interesting, beautifully written and performed, this is a story with a strong core, one that is full of soul interspersed with tit bits of astrophysics. Though while listening to it I felt the narrative drifted a little into bazaar-land occasionally, in hindsight I think it offers a really scintillating perspective of life and everything that makes life worth living. Sheila Heti is definitely an author I'll be reading more from.
