Should have read the reviews instead of trusting that it was Dresden Files. Some of the stories were good, but I would not have used a credit knowing it was a collection of short stories inspired by the series.

Characters need help

Reads a little like a d&d game session. The sentence structure and description is good but the story overall needs some work. The main characters were a bit cliche and predictable. Old wise man/mentor, grumpy barbarian type, rogue girl, and young clueless wizard boy who needs his friends to keep him alive long enough for him to save the world. I can't figure out why a servant who has no combat experience was charged with protecting the boy.
I do like the background on the dwarves. That was original! Maybe there is a story there for Mr Anderson to write.
