Historia
Former Army brat Morgan Albright has finally planted roots in a friendly neighborhood near Baltimore. Her friend and roommate Nina helps her make the mortgage payments, as does Morgan's job as a bartender. But after she and Nina host their first dinner party—attended by Luke, the flirtatious IT guy who'd been chatting her up at the bar—her carefully built world is shattered. The back door glass is broken, cash and jewelry are missing, her car is gone, and Nina lies dead on the floor.

A LOT WRONG WITH THIS BOOK
Revisado: 09-13-23
Way too long. I thought the main love interest, Miles, was quite a jerk. I kept thinking, “Morgan finds him charming now with his closed demeanor. She’s charmed by his family, their homes, and their tight cohesiveness, but she will regret being chained to this undemonstrative man in the years to come.
It went on way too long. Much of the story about the families and the homes was so perfect that it was hard to relate.
I was thankful that there was a balance to all the nice with the evil. That part was well done. Looking into the killer’s life and motivation was interesting, but I tired of so many hours dealing with turrets, oak bars, waterfalls, drinks, etc., though the info about bartending was excellent.
It was hard to relate to all of the beautiful, rich people, even though they were good people. The cutesy “playful back and forth” between Miles and Morgan made me want to be sick.
Make real people we can relate to. Morgan is so wise and skilled that she not only makes drinks but wides lamps and makes fountains. Please. Don’t take 11 hours of banter and sex that I wanted to skip forward….and actually did.
I got the feeling that Nora Roberts wrote this for Nora Roberts and put in the stuff of her dreams.
The final confrontation was done well and helped give a bit of balance to the tale. I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see Roswell in the end, as a follow up. All that work painting a disgusting human being. The reward should be that we get to see him suffer at his trial and/or in prison. One final look back would have been very satisfying. We watched all her did to others. Let us see what happened to him.

HAD TO GET A LIFELINE
Revisado: 05-22-23
I could not endure the stress and suspense! I had to search for a spoiler before I could continue.
It had me on the edge of my recliner! So much danger! With the help of a spoiler I was able to continue and just “enjoy” the suspense.
I’ve read quite a few thrillers. I’m no novice. I am a big fan of Harlan Coben. This book was no exception.
My only wish was that I could have seen the rest of the story concerning four of the characters. To Mr. Coven’s credit, I cared about them.
I have to say that it was nice not to be assaulted with four letter words every minute. This story proves that you can have a story that has prisoners and hardened criminals and not have to have your ears assaulted with a flurry of “JESUS!” “CHRIST” and “F—K!” Less talented writers think this is mandatory to convey frustration, fear, shock, disappointment, etc. They totally overlook the use of vocabulary as a useful tool. At no point did I doubt the toughness of the characters, nor their frustration. These words may have been used, but not seared into my brain by every character. Mr. Coben is a talented writer with a good range and command of the language. I totally appreciate not being verbally assaulted by the same two expressions!

The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

This One is a Winner
Revisado: 05-16-23
I just finished giving a poor review of another book written by Ms. Glass, so I am doubly pleased to give her a job well done on this one.
It was spellbinding with interesting sub-plots. The characters in this story weren’t one dimensional. They were intriguing.
Ms. Glass can write good plot ideas. That’s obvious, but in this case, the dialog was fresh and non-repetitive. I cared about the main characters. I had my emotions invested in this one.
I had read Ms. Glass’s credentials so I was puzzled with what I saw as flaws in the last book. This book redeemed me.
Riveting. A page turner. I cared for the characters.
Well done!

Lewis Madigan is young, gay, out of work, and getting antsy when he’s roped into providing end-of-life care for his insufferable homophobic neighbor, Chester Wheeler. Lewis doesn’t need the aggravation, just the money. The only requirements: run errands, be on call, and put up with a miserable old churl no one else in Buffalo can bear. After exchanging barbs, bickering, baiting, and pushing buttons, Chester hits Lewis with the big ask. Lewis can’t say no to a dying wish.

LIFE CHANGING IF YOU APPLY IT
Revisado: 01-18-23
I enjoyed the many insights I gained “on the road.” I hope I learned a thing or two to incorporate into my life about difficult people, about living before you die, about finding your gifts and following your heart. There were a lot of takeaways to be found in this book.

Riveting
Revisado: 07-19-22
This book was so interesting and well written. The excuses for the horrendous crimes gave me a peek at the erroneous thinking of criminals. They justify themselves and their actions with common sense that hooks you in….until you say, wait…WHAT? I am disappointed by the ending though. There needs to be another book to finish the story. Don’t leave us up in the air. Perhaps there already is one. I’m going to check right away. Proof of a good book, is it not?

Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

BEAUTY FROM THE ASHES
Revisado: 05-11-22
It was unexpected, but the characters were presented so refreshingly. It’s a story about a family that isn’t very traditional, but they are presented honestly with searing truth. Life isn’t always pretty, but this story of how a family weathered such great storms, learning to come together, will stay with me for a long time.

Historia
Caroline Overington's stunning fiction debut is a multi-voiced novel centred around a child's death and its terrible repercussions. In 1982 Victorian police were called to a home on a housing estate an hour west of Melbourne. There, they found a five-year-old boy lying still and silent on the carpet. There were no obvious signs of trauma, but the child, Jacob, died the next day. The story made the headlines, and hundreds attended the funeral. Few people were surprised when the boy's mother and her boyfriend went to prison for the crime.

Historia
Becca still can't remember the night 16-year-old Jessica disappeared from a party, never to be seen again. Which is bad enough (especially since she was supposedly the last person to see Jessica alive), but it's not the worst.... Strange events are making Becca think there's a link between what happened to Jessica 15 years ago and the darkness happening now. With help from her friends and her teenage crush, Daniel, Becca races against time to uncover the truth about Jessica before another 16-year-old girl is doomed to the same fate as Jessica....

SOME SERIOUS FLAWS HERE
Revisado: 04-06-22
I got so tired of the narrator voicing everyone. Her voicing of the men was particularly annoying. Most of the voices sounded the same. I know it’s probably expensive since there are so many characters. I know January gave it her best, but please hire more narrators. Also, the ridiculous reasoning these characters have! They are always jumping at the wrong conclusion, as if picking a fight, but they, of course, refuse to just ask for clarification of others, “assuming,” which draws out pointless drama. I enjoyed the first book but don’t know if I can stand the third, due to the above constant “misunderstandings” resulting in chapter after chapter of endless unspoken grudges. It reminds me of students who stretch out themes to fill six pages, filling them with repetitive junk. This is higher level junk. Does Daniel love Becca? Everyone knows it but insecure Becca, who puts on like the heroine in the Twilight Series, imagining he might not, with her low self esteem.
