Historia
What if emotional abuse is so hidden that its effects remain unchallenged for decades, masquerading as personal failings? Believing Me is an emotionally gripping memoir that gives language to the hidden and ineffable nature of childhood trauma and how it can imprint on a person, resulting in fractured self-esteem, addictions, perfectionism, and a string of abusive relationships.

This book told my story!
Revisado: 12-18-24
Oh my God!! Thank you so much for writing this book! I heard you on a podcast with Dr. Carter and immediately bought your book. I bought the audiobook so that I could listen to it while I was hiking in the mountains and now I’ve bought the printed version so that I can go back through and highlight All that spoke to me so deeply. I am 61 years old and I am just learning about how my life has been impacted by being raised in a narcissistic environment. This book is giving me permission to cut ties with people that are still hurting me. God bless Ingrid Clayton for having the courage to tell the story and liberate so many who have struggled for decades.

Narcissists are threatened by you being distinctly you. This means they predictably use distorted thinking when you declare that you deserve respect, that you should be able to follow your own plans. Our guest, Dr. Jamie Zuckerman, explains how essential it is to know the intentions of narcissists as you then determine inwardly how you will proceed with your plans, with or without the narcissist's consent. Revisado: 12-02-24
You just described the environment in which I grew up. I have never heard this before. I did not know that this is a pattern. I thought I was the only one that managed to escape this environment, but have been plugged for decades by the same systemeven though I’m in my 60s now and well away from it. Thank you so very much for giving me a direction.

It promised STORIES, not meditation. I listened to several of them and they're ALL guided meditation, but the voice of the narrator was difficult to understand and felt like she was reading a user manual instead of meditation. Please Refund

What were they thinking?
Revisado: 01-08-22
The reader had a voice that was extraordinarily annoying. She sounds like a terrible x-rated movie actress, playboy bunny, attempting to sound sincere. Her tone and cadence seemed inconsistent with what was being read. Additionally, I had to slow the speed of play down to be able to understand what was being said. The book content was great. but I could not get through all of it due to this reader. I even had to rewind a number of times to try to comprehend what was said. Several times, I felt I needed subtitles so I should've just bought the kindle book. I'm so frustrated with this reader.

Historia
When Marshall McEwan left his hometown at age 18, he vowed never to return. The trauma that drove him away ultimately spurred him to become one of the most successful journalists in Washington DC. But just as the political chaos in the nation’s capital lifts him to new heights, Marshall is forced to return home in spite of his boyhood vow. His father is dying, his mother is struggling to keep the family newspaper from failing, and the town is in the midst of an economic rebirth that might be built upon crimes that reach into the state capitol - and perhaps even to Washington.
