Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Hard science that won't make your head hurt!
Revisado: 05-28-21
More science "fiction" than the Martian, but a grand tale, and still based in "how do I science my way out of this problem?"

Lives up to the original stories!
Revisado: 07-19-20
Other than a few disagreements on how certain Characters sounded, which is inevitable, it was gorgeously done.
My only real complaint was the intrusive and repeated intro beats at the beginning of each chapter. It drew me out of the stories each time, though I was quickly able to get back into them due to the amazing storytelling and performances.

Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

I learned so much from this book that was never even touched on in high school history classes in the 80's, things that one would think would have major points of coverage only two decades after the Civil Rights Movement of the 60's.

dark and beautiful urban fantasy
Revisado: 10-01-18
listening to this book took a little getting used to. Olders narration sounds like a long form beat poem, and when it comes down to it that's what it is. is voice rolls and roils with emotion comma humor, confusion... and story is beautifully told. It's a joy to find an urban fantasy that isn't about another runaway white kid, or aspiring musician. the characters have lives and emotions, and they don't do the most logical things or the most expedient. They live on their own.

STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Funny, intense, dark, sarcastic and cynical
Revisado: 12-24-17
The story was... Picture Jay and Silent Bob meet a cross between the Cthulhu mythos and A Wrinkle in Time. Yes, that strange. It's sarcastically and cynically funny, but dark as hell at times, due to both human and non-human events.

Maybe the strong-ish female chapter will actually be strong in the next one, and the male character will be a bit less put-upon.

Revisado: 06-21-15
I love Lynch's writing. The characters are the epitome of loveable rogues with hearts of gold (or white iron) and the plot is an intricate wheels within wheels style that will leave you guessing.
