Historia
We long for a good life, a beautiful life, a kind life. But clearly that’s not the world we live in. How did we lose goodness, kindness, and beauty? And more important, how do we get them back into our lives? These are the two questions crying out in our streets, homes, churches, and from deep within our souls. Pastor and author Rich Villodas is convinced that only Jesus offers a way of being human that is both strong and tender enough to tear down the walls of hostility we experience daily.

The Perfect Title
Revisado: 02-24-23
This book by Rich Villodas is aptly named, written, and narrated. From the first page to the final one, it captured my heart and my mind as truly coming through Rich. but coming from God. There was so much clarity and conviction that anyone who missed the point never wanted the point. I wouldn't have wanted anyone but Rich to read this because you get the expression of his heart as he reads his words. I recommend this to every person seeking to live out the love of Christ in this world. Then I recommend it to those who don't even believe there is a God. I think if they get to see Him the way Rich portrays Him and how His followers should be, they will desire Him too. They will know we are His disciples by our love.

Loved the book, but the story I had to take a break from at times. It is always hard to stomach injustice, but knowing that there qas success coming, I was able to continue on. Thank you for writing this book.

Historia
In this must-listen book for anyone striving to succeed, pioneering psychologist Angela Duckworth shows parents, educators, students, and businesspeople - both seasoned and new - that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a focused persistence called "grit". Why do some people succeed and others fail? Sharing new insights from her landmark research on grit, MacArthur "genius" Angela Duckworth explains why talent is hardly a guarantor of success.

Great book that should be mandatory in schools.

This could have been very boring, but all the great stories and examples were fantastic in making the points. Must read for parents as well as educators. But everyone could benefit from understanding this and implementing it.

Historia
From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson compares this epic migration to the migrations of other peoples in history. She interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to new data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

Great Book Hard to Hear
Revisado: 02-24-22
I think this is a must read especially for African Americans but really all Americans. But it is a difficult read. Wilkerson does not fluff it up to make anyone feel or look good. I had to take a break because I was getting angry, but it was worth the trip through the Great Migration to understand it better.

Historia
After decades of research, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck discovered a simple but groundbreaking idea: the power of mindset. In this brilliant book, she describes how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. In this edition, Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset.

Revisado: 01-13-21
I've been hearing this concept for a while, then found out about this specific book. it took me awhile to buy it, but I'm glad I did. I had incorporated some of the ideas from other people that I listen to, but it was nice hearing how it impacts different areas of your life and how to change it. I probably will need to listen more than once to get it all, but I have specific ways I can change today.

Bittersweet
Revisado: 09-14-20
I thought the first two parts were really good because it was connected, a father and son. But I struggled with Rachel's part because it had nothing to do with her life with Nathan and her son. I thought a bridge would come at some point, but it never happened.
