Only those born with preternatural hearing, like Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet are able to hear and converse with dragonkind.

An Interesting story
Revisado: 08-17-24
As a lover of dragon books I found the Jane Austen concept intriguing and I wasn't disappointed. Love the different dragon types and their descriptions and their different personalities and temperaments. The main characters strongly reflect those of Jane Austen and the story kept me interested and i was disappointed by the cliff hanger ending which means I will have to buy the rest of the series.
Overall an enjoyable listen only marred by the American accent of the reader and the mispronunciation of almost all of the English place names. Although well read on the whole I did find it strange that a U.S.A. performer would have been chosen for what is a very classically English story. So much so that I initially thought that it was going to be and Austen storyline set in the States.
However, despite that, I am looking forward to listening to more of this series.

Good Story, Shame About the Narration.
Revisado: 01-22-24
A good story , well written though a bit predictable. Based in an area I used to live in and I enjoyed the places in the book bringing back memories. However the narration grated terribly and lacked any depth of feeling. I agree that there were a number of different voices used but the main character's voice was consistently inflexible and staccato. even when soothing witnesses and or suspects. Nowhere was there even a hint of a regional accent.
I would like to read book 2 but this will be a purchase that II will read myself rather than purchase through Audible.

It seems like the perfect job. Great wages, accommodation provided and all located within the walls of Highwood Hall, a stunning stately home owned by the Howard family. Not many little girls dream of becoming a maid, but this is an opportunity for me to get back on my feet. And for me to revisit my past....

Loved it.

Having used all my vouchers, I needed a story to listen to until my next credit arrived so I thought I would give a free book a try.
It was a real surprise. Great story line, perhaps a little to wordy at times and the ending became predictable, there were some nice twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed both book and performance.. Many Thanks

Suspecting that his find may contain the secret truth behind Ludwig's death, Steven consults with art historian Sara Lengfeld. A good storyline if a little predictable at times. I enjoyed the historical aspects. Just felt at times it was more like a James Bond film script than a novel.but a good listen

Listened to with gritted teeth.
Revisado: 10-04-21
A nice storyline but padded out with trivia. At times it was more like a tourist guide to the area with gardening tips, bird identification and dog training thrown in.
Absolutely hated the terribly upper class English accent and the American pronunciation of some of the words. e.g. Diedre, pronounced as Dierdrah not the usual Diedree.
I am not tempted to read the rest of the series

Historia
When a local man, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, goes missing, his parents have good reason to be concerned. Emily Willows is a friend of the family and says that she knows just the person to find him - and, as Summer Lane soon points out, the fact that this also fits in with Emily's plan to set up her very own detective agency is surely just a fortuitous coincidence.

Unusually for me I ordered this book immediately I finished listening to book one. Even more unusual is that I still want more. I enjoy the way the characters are portrayed, a quiet, almost unintentional way snippets of their character, looks and feelings are introduced so you have time to absorb the information. The settings are well researched and portrayed. Most importantly though, this book gives an accurate portrayal of post traumatic stress endured by soldiers returning from war and has given me a lot to think about in the guise of a cracking good novel.

Historia
Thirty-two-year-old Jess Abbot has lost everything: her job, her apartment, and - most heart-wrenching - her eight-year-old son, Chance, to a tragic accident. Haunted by memories and grief, Jess packs what’s left and heads for the small mountain town of Pine Lake, where she takes a position as caregiver to an eccentric old woman. A rumored clairvoyant, Lucy is strange but welcoming and immediately intuits Jess as a “loose end” in need of closure. But Jess isn’t the only guest in Lucy’s large Victorian home.

Easy Listening but a Predictable Storyline
Revisado: 10-13-19
I enjoyed this well narrated book despite its predictability. It has some thoughtful passages giving a bit of depth to the story. I am unlikely to be searching f for more by this author.
