Solid start to the spin off series.

Okay, let me preface this with the fact that I adore CR Jane and her writing style. The Pucking Wrong series and the Rich Demons of Darkwood co-authored with May Dawson, were unhinged in the best ways. This book is kind of light on the unhinged part and that was a little disappointing. I do think it is a solid start to the new series though. I would say that maybe it was because of it being young adults in college, but ahem... clears throat, Rich demons of Darkwood. Seriously unhinged and delicious. Read it is you don't mind why choose and suspense with your brewing romance. Definitely enemies to lovers, but I digress.

Now, let's talk about the narration. Alexis Paige is fantastic. She knows how to act and it shows. She really feels the part and sinks herself into it. She has become one of my one click purchase narrators. 5 stars all the way.

Lucas Webley. Sigh... Where do I start? While he does have a nice voice, his acting in this book is very stiff and weirdly punctuated. It was a lot of "I. ran. onto. the field. It. was. a. great. feeling." Very distracting. Now, while I know it is hard to compete with Troy Duran, Lucas should be able to produce a more smooth and believable character. The accent was cringy and I kept realizing that he was reading me a book. Very sad since readers immerse themselves into a story for a little escapism from the daily grind. At least that is my goal. That being said, I hope Lucas sees this and takes it as constructive criticism. He could be great if there was more emotion applied. I really wish Troy would be doing series this as well, considering the crossover elements with some of the characters we know and love from the Pucking Wrong series. Rating; two stars.

Story: 4 stars.
Alexis: 5 stars.
Lucas: 2 stars.

Like I said, a very solid start to the spin off series and I will continue to indulge. It just may be in book form if the stilted, weird narration of the male characters continues.

Great start!

This book draws you in from the first page and just gets better. I am on to the next in the series right now. While I love Gregory's voice, it was nearly impossible to distinguish between the male characters because he made them all sound the same. That was disappointing, especially since Troy Duran has narrated some of Elle"s books and he does such an amazing job at multiple characters. Michelle did a great job. She is easy to listen to and adds emotion to her characters. If you are sensitive to hard situations please check the author's TW's.

Great start to a new series.

I love this book. Jane Henry has a great way of building a whole world and it's exciting to see where things go. Wen and Kai did a wonderful job and the duet narration was perfect! I can't wait for the next one. I usually don't brings things like this up but that cover model is not right for Mikhail. Way to fresh faced for a Bratva leader. I'll be on the lookout for the next audio in the series.

This one is fighting hard for first place next to Lincoln Daniels! Delicious, dirty and full of red flags. Just like I love them. Also, the humor and spice. I adore CR Jane’s writing and Troy and Alexis nailed the narration. Five stars and is going into my favorites rotation!

I love that we had a huge epilogue revisiting all the couples after the pall and misery of the trafficking arc. Wen and Kai were amazing as usual! The only thing better would be duet narration.

Fantastic!

One of the best in the series! Get it now. You won’t regret it. Great narration and storyline. Tor Thom always brings his A game with this series and Lisa Zimmerman did great too. Love the humor in this one too. I giggled through several of Var and Vivian’s interactions. I could listen to a hundred books in this series. Zoe Blake did an awesome job with the world building and interacting storylines.

Monsters!

I really wish there was more of the monsters point of view. The story read as very one sided especially as it is written in first person. I adore both the narrators. They are awesome but it should state that it is predominantly Brooke with Troy as a cameo. I'm in chapter 25 and am pretty sure Troy has only read two chapters. This would be great in duet. Especially with the voice talent of Troy Duran and the chemistry with Brooke Daniels who is also extremely talented. I'll keep listening but this book had so much promise that wasn't fulfilled. Narrators get 5 stars and the story gets 3.
