Historia
Every time we think ahead, we are crafting a story. Every daily plan and every political vision, social movement, scientific hypothesis, business proposal, and technological breakthrough starts with “what if?” Linking causes to effects, considering hypotheticals and counterfactuals, asking how other people will react: these are the essence of narrative. So why do we keep overlooking story’s importance to intelligence in favor of logic?

I'm a huge fan of wonder works and screen writing 101. This book is not is the same league. It's a very good premise, but it doesn't really follow through on is promises.

Historia
This pathbreaking book pinpoints forces behind the rise of the "rural voter"—a new political identity that combines a deeply felt sense of place with an increasingly nationalized set of concerns. Nicholas F. Jacobs and Daniel M. Shea uncover how this overwhelmingly crucial voting bloc emerged and how it has roiled American politics. They show how perceptions of economic and social change, racial anxieties, and a traditional way of life under assault have converged into a belief in rural uniqueness and separateness.

(note : This audio book does not include a PDF for the charts that are discussed in every chapter. This needs to be fixed)
This book was factual, scientific, and eye opening. The mistrust that has been sewn between the political parties has led people like me to hold incorrect ideas about who is out there voting and what is motivating them.
The authors show that we don't have to appease extremists or compromise our principles to heal this divide. Once you understand the distortions that are commonly believed, you can talk about real issues and realistic solutions and bring people back to the center.

Historia

Historia
This is a book about an almost universal anxiety that is rarely mentioned: an anxiety about what others think of us, about whether we're judged a success or a failure, a winner or a loser. This is a book about status anxiety. Best-selling author Alain de Botton asks, with lucidity and charm, where our worries about status come from and what, if anything, we can do to surmount them.

the first half was excellent
Revisado: 09-21-22
I'd recommend this book for how well it lays out the psychology and the historical context for why society recognizes certain people and leaves others behind.
I liked the tie in of some of the eminent Western philosophers over the centuries. I also liked the tie in with famous literature, up to a point.
The last part of the book is dominated by finding examples in literature and culture that relate to the topics laid out in the first half. I found this material interesting, but much less useful than the original framing of the problem from the earlier chapters.

I admire this author, especially in contrast to so many other personalities who philosophize in the consciousness space.
This book is for anyone who wants to know what's going on under the surface in their own minds.

Everybody says Comply with Me is the most sensationally revealing book about Trump ever! This is the same type of vague exaggeration that Trump used to gain such devoted support. It is one of many hypnosis techniques that helped him to achieve near-invincible political power. Hypnosis is Trump’s secret talent. It enables him to embed ideas into his subjects' unconscious minds.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.
