Historia
Sorry... Really? Thrust? Anyway, Danny Kendrick was a down-on-his luck performer who always struggled to find his place. He certainly never wanted to be a hero. He just hoped to earn a living doing what he loved. That all changes when he pisses off the wrong guy and gets sucked into a fantasy realm straight out of a Renaissance Fair. Getting used to a new world is tough. It's even tougher when you're surrounded by axe-wielding barbarians, super hot elf assassins, strange magic, and a jaded System that doesn't appear interested in being charged with yet another companion.

this actually made me lose respect for Jeff Hayes
Revisado: 02-22-25
Jeff Hayes is one of the best narrators I've ever heard. The closer I get to the end of this book (~1 hour left) praying for ANYTHING redeeming out of the story the more I lose respect for him for taking this on and Soundbooth for picking up such trash as a project. It's like AI wrote it from a bad prompt. Quite literally struggling to finish it because a part of me has to believe there is SOMETHJNG.

Historia
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

Revised review
Revisado: 08-21-24
Eventually muscled through the first hour of painfulness and it's finally come into itself.
The narrator tries to do this thing during tense moments where he would exhude the MC's panic by talking fast but his tone and candor was painfully off.
Once that passes the narration is actually very solid several hours in.

Historia
A pyramid predating all known cultures appears without warning. Its discovery throws into question everything we know about the origins of mankind. Inside lies incredible technology, proof of a culture far more advanced than our own. Something dark lurks within, eager to resume a war as old as mankind. When it is unleashed it heralds the end of our species’ reign.

Revisado: 05-18-24
story tone and character personalities are erratic as hell. made it into book 3 before it just became too much.
I'd recommend it as a solid book for teens but all the characters are mid 30s. I didn't hate it but genuinely couldn't bring myself to finish it as a 30YO myself.

Historia
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. As Jin, I’m a man of the earth. A wielder of shovels and lord of rice and wheat. And sure, I also had to die and get pulled into another universe to end up here. But guess what? I’m starting to think it was worth it. I’ve somehow managed to get away from it all.

Consistent
Revisado: 08-13-23
This series has been an example of what I look for in a Cultivation world. It's not like it's mind-blowing content-wise. Rather, it is simply consistently well written and reasonably consistent in attitude, character growth, and progression.
I'm not saying it doesn't do some fun things I haven't seen. Moreso, those moments are just overshadowed by how thoroughly it keeps me generally engaged with what's happening by nature of flow.
Fun series, do recommend.

Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it. With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate. The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger. While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble.

Please dial back the Jason angst
Revisado: 09-27-22
The story remains entertaining and the characters fun, but the almost constant references to Jason’s self-loathing is overshadowing the rest of the tale.

Runner has a problem. He and 499,000 men and women are trapped in a game. He also just happens to be the only person from IT who could log everyone out safely. And he doesn't remember his password. He, like everyone else in this nightmare, had his memory scrambled or lost in the process of being loaded into the game. A single garbled message is his only clue to how to save everyone. The problem is that whoever loaded them into the game loaded their minds completely.

Not sure how people listen to this
Revisado: 04-04-22
I cringed early on here but pushed through hoping it would get better, especially with Jeff Hayes on board.
He is utterly overshadowed by 2 things: audio editing and the terrible dialogue.
AUDIO: Every time we jump from narrator to character talking/thinking the volume jumps. (Narration loud as hell, MC quiet AF) It's maddening.
Dialogue: The MC has the most cringe nick names and dialogue with the female characters. It's actually abhorrent.
Combine those factors with a weak baseline plot comparable with 7 other books from around the same time who did it better and.....
Overall a huge miss from me, dawg. Take a pass and drop your credit into the ocean before putting it here.

Historia
For over 30 years, Dominion of Blades has been the hottest online role-playing game in the world. But the game is too real for some, and after an epidemic of real-life fatalities, public use of the immersion technology has been banned. Jonah wakes to find himself in-game, level one, with no memory of how he arrived and no way to eject. With only two companions, trapped in a world that once hosted millions, Jonah must battle his way across a treacherous landscape, fighting virtual monsters, all too real pain, and a very human enemy.

Let's not overthink like I did in review.
Revisado: 10-26-21
Story has a solid grasp on the genre and holding to the theme. Really, it's just authentic enough based on environmental appeal to be solid, but it is solid.
Saw a few reviews, based on a focus of lgbtq intolerance and in a way that frustrated me.
I won't go further in my own review but unless you are upset by the idea of a masculine persona running a feminine character or precisely vice versa, please just don't give credence to those who draw an antithetical conclusion here.
I also had a bit of a thing against female narrators throuvh experience prior to this. This lady killed it. 10/10 slayed. take. it. as. you. will.

Top Tier Series
Revisado: 09-16-21
If you like anything about the LitRPG genre I find it hard to believe you wouldn't appreciate this series.
There is a preface to the universe in 2 separate 5(+) series that create and absolutely amazing tone. (Artorian Archives and Divine Dungeon)
I'm writing this review on my third listen of the series after the 5th edition release and needed to, at least in the basest of ways, voice my support.
From author to narrator, and all the steps between (and after!), my favorite series/universe in 25 years of reading.

In a world where magic is real, Alex is about to learn that being shot in the head was only the beginning. God has given him a choice: to take the life of the person meant to die that day and forget who he was, or to keep being Alex and transition to a world of magic where God would give him the tools to survive. Alex, an avid fan of fantasy, chooses the latter and is thrown through a black portal into a world he never could have imagined.

I was scraping bottom barrel for something to listen to and underestimated the cringe of this book.
if you can completely suspend belief and want to hear an amateurs take on erotic play then go forth and pick this up.
If characters outside the MC having no personality outside of being hot for the MC turns you off, look elsewhere. He has no redeeming qualities outside of not being a bigot. Low bar is low.
