Creepy…
Revisado: 02-27-25
Well written, well read, and really creepy. Reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe stories, which I had to give up reading because he was so effective. I think I’ll go back to the Chronicles of St. Mary’s and the Time Police. They are more optimistic than this one about Elizabeth Caige.

Historia
High adventure and dark mystery combine in a sparkling historical romance, by Jodi Taylor writing as Isabella Barclay from The Chronicles of St. Mary's. Bascombe, widowed and tied to an impoverished estate, has learned to ask little of life. With no hope of leaving, the years have passed her by. Lord Ryde, exiled abroad after a scandal, has returned to strip his estate and make a new start in America.

Jodi Taylor never disappoints!
Revisado: 02-24-25
Well written with wonderful characters along with a strong backbone of historical realism. Ms. Taylor, writing as Isabella Barclay, insures that the ugly parts of the past are just as present as the romance. Her characters are generally intelligent, passionate people who do the best they can with the circumstances in which they find themselves. Excellent, informative entertainment.

She said yes to Morelli. She said yes to Ranger. Now Stephanie Plum has two fiancés and no idea what to do about it. But the way things are going, she might not live long enough to marry anyone. While Stephanie stalls for time, she buries herself in her work as a bounty hunter, tracking down an unusually varied assortment of fugitives from justice. There’s Eugene Fleck, a seemingly sweet online influencer who might also be YouTube star Robin Hoodie, masked hero to the homeless, who hijacks delivery trucks and distributes their contents to the needy.

Stefanie Plum, growing up?
Revisado: 11-25-24
Same old Stefanie, same old bad luck/good luck, same old wacky characters that are somehow believably human. A great spirit lifting listen.

Historia
When Clive, anxious to distract a depressed Henrietta, begs Sergeant Frank Davis for a case, he is assigned to investigating a seemingly boring affair: a spiritualist woman operating in an abandoned schoolhouse on the edge of town who is suspected of robbing people of their valuables. What begins as an open-and-shut case becomes more complicated, however, when Henrietta, much to Clive’s dismay, begins to believe the spiritualist's strange ramblings.

Okay, but not for me
Revisado: 07-04-23
The romance seemed a bit over the top and the female protagonist seemed to be both dense and bright in an in believable way. She was voiced in a childish way, which is consistent with the characterization, I guess, but it was somehow grating.

For folks who believe in “strange attractors”
Revisado: 03-22-22
Well written, imaginative plot about a mover of things who ultimately moves a world of characters. The shifting of perspectives from character to character threw me off at first, but the end result was a pleasing and satisfying tale. The reader was quite good: well paced, good phrasing, nicely emotive intonation.

Short and Sweet
Revisado: 02-22-20
A slightly historical, slightly romantic, "light hearted" murder mystery, to the extent that murder can be considered "light hearted". My only issue was the brevity of the book. It makes the purchase rather expensive when 1 credit only buys 3 and a half hours.
