I really wished this would be a poly book not a polygamy book.

I have a character gripe, not a book gripe. It wasn’t really until book 3 did I become disappointed. I’m not one to “there’s only one way to poly,” but did we really need yet another main character that’s insecure af to have a one penis policy?

It’s kind of hard to purposely write for a character that knows less than you do. I want to tip my hat to the author for being able to do just that while keeping things realistically in the realm of sci-fi.

I didn’t know I I needed this book!

As a late bloomer and still socially awkward person myself, I found myself doing some really dumb things to feel loved and accepted for who I want to be. I know now, it was because I was starved of touch and community. If you have children give this to them early, please.

It's sad one of the leading characters is leaving this book (or maybe not not sure what the other books will do. )

I was hoping the advance in tech would allow some kind of mind meld into the game for that character.

Interesting Story, but I want more Freehold

Sorry Mr Williamson, I think this is an awesome opener for a new series but I'd rather listen to more Freehold universe stories...unless of course you cross the two. Food for thought.

But seriously, Kuru after a year in a group of Cannibals in the mid south...a disease presenting in ONLY New Guinea during the 50s-70s, and takes a couple years for the disease to present symptoms

Great Series, Cody is entirely too much like Kyle.

I am excited based on the last couple hours of the audiobook for what is to come, but please for the love of Star Force, Cody needs to stop being an exact copy of his father's character.

Anxiously awaiting the other series by BV Larson too!

I will entirely agree with a previous reviewer. This reads more exactly like a cross of Patrick O'Brian's Maturin/Aubrey series (21 odd book series starting with Master and Commander) and a number of other SciFi offerings from contemporary and similar authors such as Evan Currie and BV Larson. At first, I thought this may have been nearly a rip-off of that classic O'Brian series, but I think that was a misjudgement. This work stands on its own. In this case, substituting Age of Sail ships for their space equivalents was a nice touch and reminded me why I liked the other series. I had really thought, given the historical nuances the author was drawing from (blue water naval terminology and overall military history) I was really hoping that answer would have been something truly historic and poetic as I have suggested. Either way, I will happily gobble up any future book you write and if at all possible please keep the same narrator.
