This is a collection of essays and this is very scholarly. That also means it is a bit dull. The reading can hardly help. Not a dud by any means, but simply not a good listen.

The most important early book on the JFK assassination

Accessories After the Fact is a damning indictment of the gross over site and neglect to the truth about Lee Oswald, Jack Ruby and the assassination of JFK. Published in 1967, it is just as vital now as it was then. The Warren Commission (WC) was a body composed of men who had a set agenda; they were to uphold a pre-determined outcome and did so. Meagher adeptly points out the numerous flaws and neglectful questions and obfuscations .

Dallas 1963 was a hotbed of hatred

This book is not about the JFK assassination. It is about the three years leading up to that event and some who played a part in it in some way.

The book's greatest passages describe and quote two men: H.L. Hunt and General Walker. Once you hear their views, it is impossible not to consider that Dallas was about to explode in some way. Great info on these men.

The audio of the main body is good. I believe the authors buttress the beginning and end (which is less than flattering). Great that this book was Fremont of and carried through to publication, as Dallas is every bit a character as the names of the assassination.

First 6 chapters are essential in framing 1963

This is an important book, not only for the relations of the Garrison case, but for the framing of what Kennedy had going against him in 1963. DiEugenio is an apologist for Jim Garrison and his investigation; however, he clearly provides proof that Garrison was on the right track in the trial of Clay Shaw, and in the greater scope of the JFK assassination. A very good book, recommended to those who wish to listen to evidence and not swallow the ridiculous story of the world commission and the establishment media.

This book seems to easily fit as one of the most important books on outskirts of the Kennedy assassination. While not directly affecting that event, it shades the characters much more on their way to to that event. The medical cover up within is so appalling, I cannot do justice describing it here. But the ramifications are so bad, you could be angered just reading it.

Mainline Propaganda to Dispel Alternate Views

Revisado: 02-03-16

This book is a revisionist history of the Warren Commission, it's foibles, and the author's propping up of the tired "Oswald acted alone" line of JFK assassination books. While it offers day-to-day insight into the workings of the WC, it accepts all the official positions and challenges nothing.
Sure, there are plenty of "limited hangouts": Chief Justice Earl Warren gets a flawed but loving overview. Hoover's FBI is blamed (rightly) for much. The CIA gets a naughty finger wag, with full immunity for Allen Dulles (read "The Devil's Chessboard") and Lyndon Johnson (read LBJ The Mastermind of the JFK Assassination).
The research is good if you like Posner or Bugliosi, but for most people, still to this day, something is awry with what happened in 1963. This book offers sympathy to the commission men who, nonetheless, obscured valuable evidence and ignore critical information.

The story of the Manson murders is compelling listening and a true crime essential. I appreciate the afterword addition (20 years after the original publication) as it details the where-are-they-now details of the family. I encourage you to seek out any title read by Scott Brick (The Devil in the White City) as he truly aides the mood of the piece.

This book is highly recommended. It not only covers three generations of the Bush family, but it too helps us understand what is happening in our country today with our leadership.

The nefarious deeds of Prescott, George H.W., & George W. are self-explanatory when you listen to the facts. What the facts mean to you and me are far more disturbing.

This book is well-written and executed and should be read or listen to what anyone who cares about our country's future, and of course our past.

Being that this is a revision of an older work, it could've become something better than "Conspiracy" was. It is a better work, but it breaks no new ground. This might be a good book for someone who knows little about the case who needs introduction.

So much to say about "The Unspeakable"

More than anything, this fine work gives historical context amid the detail of the conspiracy to kill our president. It sharply frames a changing leader, becoming an altruistic thinker, shedding his previous thinking and listening to his enemies. The unfortunate result of his peaceful incarnation, as Douglas' work shows, was his downfall as those Kennedy had under him undermined and eventually overwhelmed his idealistic turn.

JFK and the Unspeakable is a fine book which any JFK or JFK assassination enthusiast can enjoy (if one can do so with the subject). It is a new kind of JFK book; a hybrid of historic juxtaposition of Kennedy vs the world against him. I was most impressed that the assassination detail never pandered to the lone assassin theories, as that postulation is so out of date since the declassification of documents in the last 25 -30 years. The overwhelming evidence clearly represents itself. The Oswald double is particularly intriguing....

This book is worth every cent. Hopefully you will enjoy it. warning: the book does not try to solve anything nor break new ground. It simple and elegantly shows a great man becoming greater, cut down by his own supporting elements.
