Inforrmative David and Goliath take of life inside a corporate monster. Can’t help but be outraged at the untouchability of some of the chief players. Sara Wynn Williams comes across as honest, courageous and at once idealistic and pragmatic An eye opening account that deserves to be an international best seller.

Loved this rendering of the latest Bruno Chief if Police story. The fascinating mix of history, culture and food all wrapped up in a mystery - hmmm. Irresistible. A bit like the very humble Bruno himself! Highly recommended!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Really enjoyed this second book in the Gold Detectives series, a gritty provincial thriller which is a combination of police procedural and small town mystery. An elderly novelist is brutally burnt to death in her seaside retreat, Why an apparently harmless recluse should suffer such a tortured end is hard for law enforcement to fathom. False Lights gives really good characterisation of the police force, in their professional and private conflicts, and edge of the seat chapter endings which leave you listening deep into the night!. Gillian Hamer's style in gritty provincial suspense is reminiscent of Camilla Lackberg's excellent Patrik Hedstrom detective series set in a Swedish fishing community. City level crime in a small town setting. A big riff for the narrator too. Tim Dagleish has just the right voice for the story.

What made the experience of listening to A Quiet Life in the Country the most enjoyable?

A delightful cozy mystery which quietly satirises the Edwardian social scene while portraying it with sly humor. Lady Hardcastle and her personal servant Flo are unconventional to say the least and some sticklers will no doubt complain no servant would speak to her mistress as Flo does to Lady Emily. Suspend the disbelief and enjoy the wicked repartee! For those who savour this very English type of manor house puzzle - not nearly as grand as Downton Abbey but with the same genial, incremental plot lines relying heavily on notions of social status.
