It was like listening to someone who was reading for the first time. Very little emotion and seemed the narrator didn't put any "excitement" into it.

The author needs to learn military terms better

Ok, nothing bad about R. C. Bray or Julia Whelan. Both did a GREAT job! My beef is with the author and is a great pain in my neck with the use of the word "assault rifle/weapon". In the military, there are no terms such as those used for M4's or any other small arms for ANY branch of the military. It's clear how the this author feels about firearms, as he lacks the education of them. Yes, that's my only beef!

Other then the above, the story was cool, and I did enjoy the audio book series.

I feel the story could of been written better, some times it sounds like a teenager wrote it. The narrator could put a bit more feeling into the story and that may have made it better. I listened to it a quarter of the way and had to stop. To me it's just a boring listen.

Less then I had expected, very sad

First, I LOVE the Expeditionary Force series and the spinoff's. Enjoy R.C. Bray as narrator in all those books. Craig Alanson, up to now, and only in my view, is a good writer. However, this book, which I waited for as I'm sure others have, was a BIG disappointment.

The background music was not necessary and it drowned out some of the background voices. As for the voices, some were too hard to hear, some were just right. If you have headphones on you might like it. I drive, and listen to books, but either I had to close my windows, or crank up the volume, and I prefer not to do that.

I didn't like the other voices and it seemed like it was their first time, sounded very dull to me. Mr. Bray does a fantastic job, and I hope this is redone in his voice only, but I doubt it. If I can get a refund for my credit, I'll take it. Sorry Mr. Bray, and Alanson, but this book is a flop.

Sounds like Star Wars and hard to follow

So many ideas taken from Star Wars, unless this is out of cannon and happens before even the Jedi. Hammer Head Corvette? A man called Lord "Goth" Sullust who can toss men with a wave of a hand. Tri-fighters with wings that move into attack position like X-Wings. Rebels, Republic.. Change a few words and it's Star Wars.

Performance wise, was good, RC Bray does a good job no matter what book he reads. The story was hard to follow however for me, seemed to jump from past to present to future and back with little notice. Had it been narrated by anyone else I would of dumped the book by the first 2 hours.

Not one of Thompson's better narrated books

Ok.. I enjoy listening to Mark Thompson read Start Wars, and the Solo movie was good, and the book did show some timeline at the end where all this took place which was nice but. Not sure if it was Disney or what, but I think MORE life could be been put into the reading. To me, in many parts, it was dull where excitement or "action" should of been. It was something to listen too, just not great to listen too this time.

What happened Molly?

Guess I didn't realize there were 2 narrates. I love Molly Harper's books and love the voice of Amanda Ronconi but when I heard the voice of Jonathan I had to turn it off. Boring, and no feeling. Very disappointed in this one.

Ok, other than the AI being a total ******** (insert your choice) 90% of the time, I've enjoyed the books. Would like to see a bit of romance going on but oh well.

I really loved this series. The narrator was wonderful, the story had it's funny moments. I do thing the AI was a bit harsh in his view of humans but was fun none the less. This review goes for the entire series. As of this review I'm waiting for the last audio book to be released.
