Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

Suspense at its best!
Revisado: 06-11-24
The story was well developed and didn’t “give away” the conclusion until very near the end. The narrators were great. Warm voices. Not at all annoying. 😉😂 If you love a good “who done it,” this one’s for you.

Revisado: 06-10-24
FIRST LIE WINS is filled with suspense and intrigue. It’s a story deftly woven with a touch of romance and a lot of cat and mouse and a big question-who is Mr. S? The narrators were perfect.

Historia
Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in "The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas". As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. She lost some fingers and toes, but she survived, and famously testified that her 15-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, Ben sits in prison, and troubled Libby lives off the dregs of a trust created by well-wishers who've long forgotten her.

Suspenseful Sadness
Revisado: 05-24-24
I enjoyed the back and forth of each character, from past to present. The suspense built with each chapter. The sadness and hopelessness hung over each word, page, and chapter but ended with a hopefulness, for the future.

Historia
Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

This book was absolutely fascinating. Its memoir meets science. The story is candid, blatantly truthful, and so, SO interesting. This is a book everyone should read, especially those working with children. Maybe, if we learn to understand the psychopathy there would be less assuming that these individuals are just… “bad.”

Twists and turns. Tension and suspense. From the beginning, the eloquence of the authors’ words grab you and don’t let go. The narrator couldn’t have been better.

Disturbing…

…but, sadly, a story that is too often true. The ending was SO sad. The narrator mispronounced words (it’s eSpecially NOT eKspecially) and needs more practice narrating in a fluid way. Words were noticeably skipped. She often paused in the middle of a sentence.

Tragically Riveting
Revisado: 11-03-19
The author clearly did her homework. Based on true events, the author winds her way through the history of a Memphis adoption agency and it’s treatment of innocent children. The narrator is fabulous, giving each character the unique spirit and personality they deserve.

Suspenseful story
Revisado: 12-11-18
This book had interesting characters, many with secrets, big and small. Joe was a well developed main character-with a less than stellar mother, a crush, a unique brother, and, as a typical and believable college student, was a bit apathetic about classes that didn’t really interest him. The narrator was outstanding! His voice was immediately comforting and hit all the right notes, throughout.
