Surprising!
Revisado: 01-15-25
I usually don't get surprised by books because the HEA I usually reach for are predictable (In a good way usually). This one surprised me in the best way and I couldn't stop listening. I almost wish I could forget it all to hear it again for the first time. Some hard topics but so well written. I loved The Whisper of Solace and am so happy the author hit this one out of the park too.

Historia
For Astrid Parker, failure is unacceptable. Ever since she broke up with her fiancé a year ago, she’s been focused on her career—her friends might say she’s obsessed, but she knows she’s just driven. When Pru Everwood asks her to be the designer for the Everwood Inn’s renovation, which will be featured on a popular HGTV show, Innside America, Astrid is thrilled. Not only will the project distract her from her failed engagement and help her struggling business, but her perpetually displeased mother might finally give her a nod of approval.

Worth the wait.
Revisado: 11-23-22
I had been waiting for this title to come out ever since I found DDC. I couldn't wait to hear what the author would do with Astrid's character and I wasn't disappointed. I do wish she would have had a bit more of a resolution with her mom, but it also made sense with all their past. Gangs all back and it's great to see a friend group I would want as my own. Just in time for my Fall break so I can binge listen!

Historia
Olivia Bennett is on the tenure track at Cornell University, the resident expert on Southern women writers. After moving to upstate New York from Atlanta, she falls in love with and purchases an old, run-down farmhouse. The only catch: she knows nothing about renovating a house, taking care of land, or snow. Joss Bauer is a New York native who grew up in her family's construction business. She has a soft spot for old houses, but no patience for overpaid debutantes who want to play at country living.

the narrator southern accent was bad
Revisado: 03-19-18
the narrator made it quite hard to finish. she was one note throughout with each character. tried to hard to make each voice sound different and ended up not paying attention to emotional subtleties.

passive main character
Revisado: 02-17-18
I was pretty sick of hearing the main character be so whiny. I skipped a couple chapters and she was still going on and on again and again.
