Very Good
Revisado: 05-01-25
This second book in the series improved on everything from the first.
The humor is better, characters feel more developed, and the plot thickens.
This book makes me immediately want to buy the next.
If you were on the fence after reading book one like I was.
Power through, I think you’ll be happily surprised by where things go.

Slow burn, subtle humor, really kept me guessing till the end. Unexpectedly emotional. Would pick up another from this author

Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Better and Better
Revisado: 02-25-25
Wow. The wind up to faction wars was WELL worth the wait. Better writing than ever. Paced extremely well. The characters continue to grown and the plot continues to thicken. Both new and old characters are a delight.

Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

Classic Suspense Horror
Revisado: 01-03-25
I like how Stephen King is able to write multiple scenes that overlap each other though they take place in different locations.
It allows multiple characters to have events at the same time.
These events coalesce in a very satisfying way.
I have some quibbles about how Wendy is written.
I kinda find Stephen King to write women weird in general?
But, I DO like how he writes about her tenacity regarding Motherhood.
All in all, a great suspense story that totally holds up even after this much time.

Historia
Just as Fred is settling down in his new abode, he receives word that a favor is being called in, one he promised to a dangerously powerful member of otherworldly royalty. Bracing danger, adventure, and unknown threats, Fred is instead asked to take on an entirely different role than anticipated. Acting as interim professor at one of the few universities for supernatural entities, Fred will have to navigate a strange environment, eccentric coworkers, and unenthusiastic students. Yet that alone won't be enough, for this college has more history than the tales in its tomes.

Best One Yet
Revisado: 12-18-24
If you’ve made it this far, you’re obviously invested.
Hayes lets it rip in this semi-finale. A great celebration of the characters, some longer plot points, and the authors whimsical word play.
I am STOKED, for the final book to come out.
Plus the scenery in this book is “Magic College” which we all know Hayes loves to write about.

Sequel worth reading
Revisado: 12-14-24
I picked up the first book and loved the witty banter and Sherlock Holmes style mystery.
This sequel brings the same energy and advances the story a bit further.
Both books are totally worth the time & listen

Historia
Agent Isaac Steele has problems. He spends all his splibs on drink and drugs. He has some deep-seated and very much unresolved issues with his parents. And his robotic partner at Greatest Britain’s Department of Clarification, Dr Timothy Stephens, is ruled more by his heart than his hard drive. But all these issues take a back seat when Isaac stumbles upon a case involving the most sensitive information in the cosmos - a Never File, inaccessible to all except those with the highest clearance. He is expressly forbidden to involve himself. So naturally he does.

This book SPECIFICALLY, has some really emotional moments that I really like. One moment I’m laughing at the gallows humor. The next I’m holding back tears about “The River”
Can’t wait for the next book.

Historia
With a thriving parahuman accounting practice, a steady relationship, and a circle of trusted friends, Fred's undead life has become more enjoyable than his normal one ever was. Unfortunately it also seems that he's no longer the only vampire to appreciate the up-and-coming city of Winslow, Colorado. A new clan of vampires is moving in, and they aren't well known for tolerating outsiders in their territory.

Excellent Light Reading
Revisado: 09-15-24
Solid through the first three books.
Funny, interesting, classic Drew Hayes whimsical writing style.
Hayes successfully takes supernatural icons and flips them on their heads.
How the book is broken down into several different related short stories makes it very easy to digest.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

First Stephen King Novel. Did Not Disappoint
Revisado: 09-15-24
Narration is great. No complaints.
Well paced for a book that is +40hrs long.
Excellent character development all around.
Great twists and turns, no one is safe.
Satisfying conclusion.
Also has really good examinations of society, faith, religion, and free will which was enjoyable.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a longer novel, fictional reality with a layer of superstition, and is okay with some sexual content.
