Martin’s Stupidity
Revisado: 03-23-25
Martin is a typical liberal. The book was great, but Martin’s evaluation of Donald Trump and Joe Biden at the end could not have been more wrong.

Historia
During her multi-book investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

Great Story, Well Told
Revisado: 08-23-20
Marc Randolph does a great job telling this fascinating story of the founding of Netflix. I was in Silicon Valley at turn of the century working on a startup – I wasn’t the founder, but the CFO. All the people, places, restaurants – I remember so vividly. I knew some of the people he refers to. Excellent job Marc.

Good, But Not His Best
Revisado: 08-23-20
Harvey Mackay’s first books were his best. This one contains a lot of good stuff, but after about halfway through, I find it very hard to stomach all the clichéd, overused sayings and the incessant name dropping. Harvey, is there any public figure who is not your “close personal friend?” I’m not impressed by the name dropping, but rather by your years of leadership experience and what you have to offer. Stick to that. Those who seek to impress, rarely do. Your first books didn’t name drop or use hackneyed sayings we’ve all heard many times. They just had good honest hard-earned advice.

Revisado: 02-17-20
No thanks. We all have enough assholes in our lives. No need to pay to listen to one.
I got about 40% of the way through the audio, and once this chick introduced her political views – well, time to pull the plug. I don’t care what you think, Sarah. The script was marginal enough until I got to that point, but that just pushed me over the edge. I don’t recommend this book.

An inside look at the 2017 Houston Astros championship season, focusing on the epic seven-game World Series, the front office decisions that built a winning team, and the resilience of the city in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. On November 1, 2017, the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in an epic seven game battle to become 2017 World Series champs. For the Astros, the combination of a magnificently played series, a 101-victory season, and the devastation Hurricane Harvey brought to their city was so incredible it might give Hollywood screenwriters pause.

Exceptional Treatise – Really Good Stuff
Revisado: 08-15-18
This is an brilliant writing, but getting through it all requires your full attention. There are many complex concepts discussed, and they all make sense if you consider them. It was refreshing to get advice from a psychologist that isn’t a bunch of left-leaning, utopian academic junk. This is real practical advice from someone who grew up in a very isolated and desolate part of the world, devoid of many of the luxuries we all enjoy today. He’s been able to lift himself up to become the renowned counselor that he is today. His life experiences with his boyhood friend, his landlord and his daughter’s health issues have obviously contributed greatly to his insight. Great job, Dr. Jordan Peterson.
