Historia
A classic thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Crichton, Sphere is a bravura demonstration of what he does better than anyone: riveting storytelling that combines frighteningly plausible, cutting-edge science and technology with pulse-pounding action and serious chills.

Not his best work, but worth the read
Revisado: 12-28-24
I’m an emerging fan of Michael Crichton. After reading ocean-exploration books like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I was turned on to this book for its setting. It was a slow start to know the characters, but I was fully invested by the time the Sphere makes its appearance. Unfortunately, I felt that the action sequences in the last third of the book dragged on, and that not enough answers were provided for the many questions I had throughout the book. If one believes in the power of manifestation, they will probably get more out of the book than I did. Nonetheless, I’m glad I read it and I recommend it for most fans of the sci-fi genre.

Historia
The conservation of natural resources, like that of any other asset, involves trade-offs. Yet, in a world faced with the harsh realities of climate change, crafting the right environmental policies is an increasingly urgent task. In Conservation, Charles Perrings and Ann Kinzig bring together new research in economics and biodiversity to investigate conservation decisions and the theory behind them.

Great textbook on conservation
Revisado: 10-14-24
I’m a graduate student of environmental science looking to break into the conservation industry, and this book was extremely helpful in giving me the broad strokes of how the conservation industry operates on the economic, political, and social levels. It is quite math-heavy in many sections, but that is balanced out by its great summary/conclusion sections.
I wish I had a hard copy to keep, but I’m glad I was able to listen to it before it left the Audible collection. The voice is consistent and clear throughout the playback and made it easy to focus on the content. I recommend this book as a great primer to the economics/policy side of the conservation industry.

Historia
In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close. The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

Great sound design and narration
Revisado: 07-06-24
Gaiman’s narration made this read fly by and kept me engaged. I wish there were a few more sound cues than what we had between every few chapters and with certain character dialogue, but the audiobook provides a much fuller experience than having read the book alone. Highly recommend.
