Historia
Chelsea Iversen's THE WITCHES AT THE END OF THE WORLD is a speculative novel set in 17th-century Norway about two sisters who find themselves at odds when one incites a dangerous curse against the village where their mother once lived; but you can't take back dark magic once it's been released, and they know, like their mother before them, that someone will have to burn—they are witches, after all.

I loved the story, and I really enjoyed the dual narration trading off chapters between characters. I didn't enjoy Liz Pearce's voice for Olen. These people are Norwegian. Why does Olen have a Cockney accent?! I had to stop listening because it was so bad, and that really upset me because Amy Scanlon's narration was perfect. Luckily, I had the print book, so I could read the chapters that included him and return to to the audio book for the chapters without him.

Historia
Leslie Marmon Silko's sublime Ceremony is almost universally considered one of the finest novels ever written by an American Indian. It is the poetic, dreamlike tale of Tayo, a mixed-blood Laguna Pueblo and veteran of World War II. Tormented by shell shock and haunted by memories of his cousin who died in the war, Tayo struggles on his impoverished reservation. After turning to alcohol to ease his pain, he strives for a better understanding of who he is.

Incredible

What an amazing read! It’s my first Silko book, but it’s absolutely not my last!

Historia
Jefferson is an innocent and unwitting party to a deadly liquor store shoot-out in the 1940s. As the only survivor, he is tried and convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Grant Wiggins, a university-trained teacher at the plantation school, is persuaded to visit Jefferson in his cell. Wiggins is torn between staying in his native Cajun community or moving on. The 2 men gradually form a bond as they jointly discover the simple heroism of resisting - and denying - the expected.

Too abridged
Revisado: 04-30-19
I got this for use in my class, but it is too extremely abridged, so I really can't use it at all. It wouldn't be a problem if I was just reading for enjoyment, but this is different. It's my fault. I should have read the reviews before I got it.
