Long but worth all the time. The ultimate love story. Some might call it a mystery, but to me, a love story.

Historia
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Revisado: 12-26-24
This is a charming story about belonging. It is also the story about people since and their idiosyncrasies. I enjoyed the story and like all the others by him, wish it was longer.

Historia
After years of trying to make it as a writer in 1990s New York City, James Smale finally sells his novel to an editor at a major publishing house: none other than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Jackie - or Mrs. Onassis, as she's known in the office - has fallen in love with James' candidly autobiographical novel, one that exposes his own dysfunctional family. But when the book's forthcoming publication threatens to unravel already fragile relationships, both within his family and with his partner, James finds that he can't bring himself to finish the manuscript.

I can't say enough about this author.
Revisado: 07-21-24
I have loved everything I have listened to of his. What a wonderful story teller who adds just enough depth to his characters without losing humor. I did a little research on him and lo and behold, he is from Portland, ME. Maine does breed some pretty awesome authors. I also read that his books are being looked into for movie and/or TV production. I can't wait.

Revisado: 05-15-24
I have read almost all his books but this is completely different from what I have read in the past. I love this story and these people even though at times I knew the outcome. A reminder that we cannot ever forget that we MUST learn to live together in this world.

Historia
Real Americans begins on the precipice of Y2K in New York City, when twenty-two-year-old Lily Chen, an unpaid intern at a slick media company, meets Matthew. Matthew is everything Lily is not: easygoing and effortlessly attractive, a native East Coaster and, most notably, heir to a vast pharmaceutical empire. Lily couldn't be more different: flat-broke, raised in Tampa, the only child of scientists who fled Mao’s Cultural Revolution. Despite all this, Lily and Matthew fall in love.

She has done it again
Revisado: 02-11-24
Kristen has a way of tearing my heart out, tossing it around and putting it back where it belongs. This was my war and it changed my life forever. I had friends and classmates on all areas of the spectrum, from those that went to Canada to those that enlisted to those that were able to get deferred. Some of them came home and some didn't, and some were never the same as when they left. She has captured the story of the time.

Historia
Mabel Beaumont’s husband Arthur loved lists. He’d leave them for her everywhere. ‘Remember: eggs, butter, sugar’. ‘I love you: today, tomorrow, always’. But now Arthur is gone. He died: softly, gently, not making a fuss. But he’s still left her a list. This one has just one item on it though: ‘Find D’. Mabel feels sure she knows what it means. She must track down her best friend Dot, who she hasn’t seen since the fateful day she left more than sixty years ago.
