Historia
In 1985, Lore Rivera marries Andres Russo in Mexico City, even though she is already married to Fabian Rivera in Laredo, Texas, and they share twin sons. Through her career as an international banker, Lore splits her time between two countries and two families—until the truth is revealed and one husband is arrested for murdering the other. In 2017, while trawling the internet for the latest, most sensational news reports, struggling true-crime writer Cassie Bowman encounters an article detailing that tragic final act. Cassie is immediately enticed by what is not explored:

Surprisingly Satisfying
Revisado: 06-14-22
I headlined this as "surprisingly satisfying" because I thought it was going to be a different kind of story. More of a thriller. Instead the author spent a lot of time developing the story and the characters to reveal what was happening within them emotionally. They are all flawed which is true of all of us if we are honest. But their flaws were relatable and that made this story, at the end, a satisfying tale of deceit, love, and sacrifice. I look forward to more books from Katie Gutierrez.

And while there are cracks beginning to show in Acapulco because of the drug cartels, her life is, by and large, fairly comfortable. When Lydia’s husband’s tell-all profile of Javier, the jefe of the newest drug cartel that has gruesomely taken over the city, is published, none of their lives will ever be the same.

Eye opening and beautifully written. Enough suspense to keep you wondering and then unexpected twists. Sad but full of heart.

Historia
For decades, Walter Cronkite was known as "the most trusted man in America". Yet this very public figure was a remarkably private man. Drawing on unprecedented access to Cronkite's private papers as well as interviews with his family and friends, Douglas Brinkley now brings this American icon into focus as never before. Brinkley traces Cronkite's story from his roots in Missouri and Texas through the Great Depression, to World War II, when he gained notice reporting with Allied troops, and on, following his illustrious career.

Compelling Reminder of What News Coverage Used To Be
Revisado: 04-10-20
This history of Cronkite's life and career was a wonderful journey through major world events and the evolution of TV news coverage. Every sentence was interesting and left me wanting to hear more. And as always, reader George Guidall delivered.

Suspenseful and Engaging
Revisado: 04-03-20
The story kept me on the edge of my seat right through the end. I loved the lovable characters, despised the bad guys, and was intrigued by the science fiction elements. I'm looking forward to Michael's next book!

Lovely story about being human
Revisado: 09-16-17
I had no idea what to expect when I started this book. And it went down paths that I could never have imagined. Very creative story that reveals the strengths and weaknesses found in our humanity. Very satisfying ending.
