Narration matters
Revisado: 03-18-22
This may be a great book - I don't know. Narration matters and the narration of this book negatively impacted the story. I found myself drifting off, unable to concentrate on the story because the narrator talked in such a smooth, soothing voice. Since this was a science fiction story, with a crew in trouble in orbit around the moons of Jupiter, one would assume it was not a soothing experience.

Historia
For Sabre Orin Brown, life is good; she has it all...or would have, if only she could solve the mysterious disappearance of her brother. The search for her brother and her career as a juvenile-court attorney collide when she defends a nine-year-old whose father will go to any length to obtain custody. Sabre finds herself immersed in a case with too many unanswered questions. Her quest for the truth takes her coast to coast and five years into the past.

Worst narration ever
Revisado: 08-14-20
I kept trying to listen to this novel, because I love mysteries. But I kept losing my place, realizing the narration had been droning on while I got distracted and couldn't listen. This reader sounded like someone reading in a high school class. The story may be good; I don't know. The droning voice ruined it for me.

As good as the first one
Revisado: 07-17-19
I usually find sequel books somewhat disappointing, and that's what I expected with No Way. I'm happy to report I was wrong. Although there is a slow start to this book, the pace picks up rapidly, and the psychological game between Frank and X-O continues. I will not give away the ending here, but I will say I was happy with the ending.

Historia
A rising star at a preeminent political lobbying firm, Dag Calhoun represents the world’s most powerful technology and energy executives. But when a close brush with death reveals that the influence he wields makes him a target, impossible cracks appear in his perfect life. Like everyone else, Dag relies on his digital feed for everything - a feed that is as personal as it is pervasive, and may not be as private as it seems. As he struggles to make sense of the dark forces closing in on him, he discovers that activists are hijacking the feed to manipulate markets and governments.

Boring
Revisado: 06-09-19
I did finish listening to this book, mainly because I thought SURELY something interesting was bound to happen. However, nothing seemed to connect from one scene to the next, and I kept losing interest. This story did not inspire me to action regarding global warming, if that was the author's intention. Frankly, I don't know what the point of this story is. I found it boring, and the narrator's dead-pan delivery did not help.

They should make a movie from this book!
Revisado: 04-01-19
I truly enjoyed this book. At first, I thought it rambled on a bit much in the beginning, but during my second listen, I became glad that I was able to see all the threads of the story intertwine. i thought the narrator did a very good job, reading the story with empathy for his characters. I could definitely visualize a movie based on the book, with all the flashbacks as it reveals the mystery slowly.

Historia
War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

I was spellbound!
Revisado: 03-08-19
Although some of the war scenes seemed a little long to me, I found this story engrossing. i couldn't stop listening. The main character was sharply defined; I wish some of the other characters had been more deeply fleshed out. All in all, it was a great space opera. with a mystery wrapped inside. As always, R.C. Bray lends an extra dimension with his masterful reading, adding that touch of humor to make his charcters come to life in my mind's eye.
