Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Amazing
Revisado: 07-15-16
At first I was a little apprehensive about a whole book on a guy trying to survive on Mars. I mean, what could he do that would be so interesting?
I was totally bowled over. This must be the best book that I've "read" this year. It was superbly written, with a nice touch of humour and I actually had goosebumps at the end.
The narrater did a great job, too. I will definitely look out for more books read by him. I'm sure he will make even a mediocre book shine.

Historia
Bill Bryson was struck one day by the thought that we devote more time to studying the battles and wars of history than to considering what history really consists of: centuries of people quietly going about their daily business. This inspired him to start a journey around his own house, an old rectory in Norfolk, considering how the ordinary things in life came to be.

Fascinating!
Revisado: 06-08-16
Bryson has a way of telling his story like you're chatting over a glass of red wine. All the facts are really interesting and you get a great variety of different pieces of history in one book.
It's not often that you get a writer that can actually read too, so I have to say; well done!
I'm off to find another Bryson book!

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It's only a minute until the train moves on, but it's enough. Now everything's changed.

Historia
When washed-up priest Angela Murs and skittish ghost hunter Tim Golding are summoned to a vast country manor to help a sick little boy, they have no idea what to expect. While it's clear that young Sammie is a very disturbed child, there's surely no way he could have been behind the recent spate of accidents or the death of his father. The child is dirty, malnourished, and perhaps the victim of a negligent mother, but as Angela and Tim's investigations take them deeper into the mystery, they realize there is much more going on than they ever could have imagined.

Thoroughly enjoyable!
Revisado: 04-05-16
This book managed to keep my attention (and that says a lot). It was not just the story that was artfully written, but also the presentation of it that was top class.
With a thrilling twist in the tail....
Definately worth a credit.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 07-30-14
What made the experience of listening to Mr Mercedes the most enjoyable?
Stephen King is a great writer and understands all the ways to keep you on the edge of your seat. Also, Will Paton is a great storyteller. This is win-win combination.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Absolutely. I think it's just the way the story was written and read. The pace is just right and it never lets up. My mind usually wanders when listening to books or I can't wait for the book to end so that I can listen to a new one, but this never happened while listening to Mr Mercedes and it's quite a long book.
Have you listened to any of Will Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I'll definately look out for other books written by him.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The chase is on!
Any additional comments?
Credit well spent!

Why the writer was allowed to read his own book is beyond me. He rambles on about what - I'm not sure. Maybe if a professional read it, it would have made sense or sounded interesting.
This is the second book I couldn't finish and have now deleted it. Wish I could get my credit back.

Entertaining
Revisado: 08-02-13
I've been a big fan of Kellerman's for a while and have read all of his books except this one, which is the first in the series about Alex and Milo. This is not his best work, but very entertaining - once you get over the idea that an ordinary psychologist can suddenly turn into a ruthless and tough PI (with more luck than anyone could hope for). Although the story deals with gruesome subject matter, I really enjoyed the story.
The narrator must be one of the best I’ve heard thus far and does an excellent job.
Definitely worth a credit if you are not too sensitive.

Boring
Revisado: 07-22-13
I thought this would be a very interesting book. I am now halfway with the book, but if you should ask me what I've learnt thus far (or even heard thus far), I have no idea. It could be because of the narrator which is COMPLETELY wrong for the book and the subject matter.
Merilyn Harris would be great for a mystery novel a la Ruth Rendell or something like Murder She Wrote, but NOT for this. She reads it like it's a mystery and I just can't take her seriously. I have a good mind and go onto my next book - and I don't think I'd even wonder what the rest of the book is about.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Wow! Why haven't I heard about Peter Clines before? This book is brilliantly written. The suspense never lets up, the story is fast-paced and talk about twists!
As for the narrator... I so wish he could read all the books on Audible. I have stopped listening to books before because of the narrator, but Ray Porter reads like it’s his story that he’s telling and he’s very passionate about it. Without a doubt the best narrator I have heard in the seven years I have been with Audible.
Well done!

Highly recommended
Revisado: 11-14-12
The build-up of the story is great, but the end is rather disappointing. I was waiting for a twist in the tale, which never came, and it ended rather abruptly.
Having said that - I was glued to my iPod throughout the story. Bernadette Dunne's narration is wonderful. She does not allow your attention to wander. She has different voices for all the characters and she doesn't lose them. Even the men sound like men.
Well, worth a credit.
