Historia
It should be the perfect opportunity: a manor house available rent free in exchange for a bit of housesitting. But when Cass and James dig deeper, they find the place has been abandoned since a robbery left almost all the inhabitants dead almost thirty years ago. But they’ve got to save for a deposit somehow, so they move in, and things quickly take a strange turn. Objects disappear and turn up in odd places, the clock always stops at the same time, and the house is oppressive yet strangely familiar. Could it just be bad memories, or are the house’s secrets a little closer to home?

If you want to read a sad depressing book than this is your book..yes it’s got a lot of twists and the creep factor is there, but I didn’t care for the story..I wish I’d never read it.. the torture part was just disgusting.. I’d definitely would gone a different way with the story

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Not what I was hoping for..
Revisado: 12-06-22
Wasn’t really much of a story.. wasn’t sure I’d even finish it.. all of these reviews that gush on and on about how wonderful, great, outstanding.. obviously have never read a good book before.. not sure why, but it seems that a lot of writers over the years have lost their muchnesses.. I don’t recommend this book unless you want to just piddle thru an uninspiring story, was very predictable… which is a tragedy. PersonallyI don’t care for those kind of books, But maybe that’s all this particular author can write about now… hope you have a beautiful day

Not a new Koontz novel
Revisado: 12-27-21
was old and tired..subpar writing, was so excited to read a new koontz book, they really should let you know it was written under a pen name quite a while ago…The story was annoying,,characters lacked depth…I pushed through and finished, but was definitely a waste of time and a credit..which is sad , as I’m a big koontz fan..and I’ve read older books and loved them..Have read The Watcher over and over… this did not happen with this one

A decade ago, Emily Carlino vanished after her car broke down on a California highway. She was presumed to be one of serial killer Ronny Lee Jessup’s victims whose remains were never found. Writer David Thorne still hasn’t recovered from losing the love of his life, or from the guilt of not being there to save her. Then David meets Maddison Sutton, beguiling, playful, and keenly aware of all David has lost. But what really takes his breath away is that everything about Maddison, down to her kisses, is just like Emily.

Narrative was one huge breath after another..
Revisado: 04-28-21
I’ve read every Dean Koontz book ..this is the first one I’ve ever returned , which is quite possibly the saddest thing I could write.
I remember reading Watchers..and was hooked from then on,.. but besides the narration ,which instilled breathing anxiety, the story was not everything that I’ve come to love about a Koontz book. The main character was not likable,in fact.. I hated him.
Save your money.. and your time, I wish that I had, but If your like me you will get it and read it, because after all you are a fan.
Just wish it would have been all I was hoping for.. another fantastic Dean Koontz book.. here’s looking towards the next Koontz book.. and if you disagree, that’s okay
